How To Add Domains To My Hosting Account

I have a baby account with hostgator, but I use namecheap to register domains. I registered another domain recently; I have edited the nameservers but I can't seem to find the new domain anywhere in my cpanel.

Is there anything else I need to do to sort this out?

Thanks.

  • Did you set it up as an add-on domain? Go down thru the different sections of your cPanel. The 4th one from the bottom should be Domains.

    Click on Addon Domains.

In the top box, type in the name of your domain without the www.

Unless it's being put somewhere unusual, you can usually tab down 2 fields (it will then enter the default for those) to the password boxes. Enter the password twice.

    Click the Add Domain button.

    Hello MrWhistler,

I believe and I'm assuming you haven't, that you need to add it as an add on domain in your Cpanel before you can do anything.

Hostgator's live chat would be best for this question.

Try this one! First things first... you need to have purchased the domain. It won't work if you don't own it just yet! So go out and grab that domain from your registrar of choice. We recommend GoDaddy.com or NameCheap.com for purchasing domain names.

      Hi Corsley,

Sometimes people have this issue and they dont realize they are on a hosting plan that only allows one domain.

    Glad you figured it out.
