My Content on Aol answers

Hey,

I did a search on copyscope and found all the content copied and pasted from my home page and posted on Aol answers and also not a very well spun version on multiply, will this effect my rankings? I have dropped a couple of spots but not sure if its because I havent posted lately or because dup content.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Your content is copyrighted, so no one has a right to post it other places without your permission. Ask the owners of the website to remove your content. If they don't, file a DMCA violation. It doesn't take very long, and it does work.

I found a very poorly spun version of one of my articles on some random website (they were "kind" enough to keep my name on it, but replaced my links with links to their own website) The website ignored my request to either publish my content in its entirety, or remove it. I filed a DMCA violation, and, within about a week or so, Google told me that the page was being removed from their index. Shortly after that, the page was deleted altogether.

File a DMCA with AOL answers. If you can contact the person who did it and get it removed by asking them to, do that first.

    Thanks Nicole,
i had been in a similar situation but i had no knowledge about the DMCA part so i just ignored the whole thing. i would be interested in knowing more about "how to file DMCA" but first i am going to ask the webmaster to remove my content which is exact copy of my content without even a single change.

The easiest way to do it is to just Google "DMCA violation". In one of those top results, you'll find that Google gives you a step-by-step form that will help you do it. You'll have to give them the URL of the page where you originally published the material and, of course, the URL of the site that has stolen your content.

I try to make a conscious effort to search for stolen content about once a week or so. With some of the stealing and spinning that goes on out there, I don't want my credibility to suffer because some thief ran my content through a spinner. And, even for content that hasn't been spun, I don't think anybody should get to benefit from my hard work without giving me the proper credit for it.

No. We researched it recently and straight out of the horse's mouth (Google), they said that it would not because you can't control what other people will do.

And with regard to stolen content, if I went after everyone that has stolen from us, I would literally never get anything done. It is off the map!
