Comment received to my site

I put a new site up last night (my first WP site) and today I have received two comments awaiting approval. Both are saying they have taken the liberty of linking to my site because they think their readers would benefit. Well, both are linked from the same site, though the names are different. And the site is an IM type site which has nothing to do with the topic of my site. The site is new. Doesn't sound right though I'm not sure how this site would benefit from linking to my site. Should I just deny approval?
Thanks.

Well if you are a true resource, they could benefit by offering value to their readers... but since it is on a totally different topic, it sounds like a mass email (auto commenting) thing to me. Based on what you shared, just delete them.

Thanks. Isn't there a plugin for spam in WP?

Yes, install akismet (you will want to get a free api from wordpress.com to use the plugin) and also i like to use SI Captcha Anti Spam as well. The two plugins together work great for me.

It's spam. They are probably trying to get a trackback link from you if you approve it. Or something else along those lines that benefits them in some say, but not you. Just send them to the trash or spam folder.

Spammers commonly say things like that when auto commenting. I'd delete and move on.

This is pure spam. I have seen a thousand versions of this up to now and believe me the spammers are getting even more clever. There have been a few cases that I had difficulty realizing that the comment was spam.

Be ready for more and more spam comments and take your precautions like a captcha, a checkbox, filtering etc.

I was able to minimize receiving spam comments with this plugin: WordPress › Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin « WordPress Plugins Nicer than a captcha, but equally effective.
