Computer voice, good or bad?

I like the concept of some of the instant video sites that are popping up, particularly the articles to video site. But I am wondering does the computer generated voice turn off people or does it not make a difference in our opinion?

I'm not familiar with such sites. Can you provide a link?

This is just my opinion but people are trained to respond to human voices and, therefore, relate to them better. If an electronic voice sounds human enough, it will be alright but so many electronic voices don't know how to add proper inflection and tone so things can be a little hard to interpret.

    Just my opinion.

it probably fits the purpose , however iin all honestly im personally not a fan. Its easy enough to get voiceovers these days, just head to odesk / fiverr or even warriors for hire if you really want it to be professional

Here's how you get an answer.... would YOU listen to that voice for 30 seconds, a minute, etc? I know I sure wouldn't. In fact, I made it through about 5 seconds on one of the links you provided before I got bored.

When I was in TV news, we had voice coaches that would come meet with us once a year or so to make sure that we *sounded* compelling (not over-the-top dramatic, but a whole lot more interesting than that teacher in Ferris Buehler).

Why did our station spend money on voice coaching?

Because you could have the greatest story in the world, but if you *sound* bored with it, then your viewers are going to be bored, too. It's not just *what* you have to say... it's also *how* you say it. Those computer-generated voices are just boring, almost to the point of insulting that they think someone's actually going to waste their time listening to it.

Well, I would personally go for outsourcing that stuff. You must be knowing about it.

Give this voice job to a freelancer with good track record. It might be costly than doing it with software.

But I feel that a human voice is worth more than a computer/software generated voice system.

I used a NCH text to speech conversion software in the past.
But I didn't like it. If you think it fits your purpose, just Google it. It may be of some use to you. Have a nice day
