Just finished my 1st week of Affiliate Marketing--Made $8.05 Critique on my plan?

I just concluded my first week of AM. For the week I created 4 websites. One Squidoo stand alone site, plus one squidoo page for one of my sites. On those four sites I have sales pages and a blog. I have a combined total of 24 blog posts. In addition I have 15 articles in waiting over at EZA. All blog posts and articles were written SEO'd for low competition keywords with decent traffic.

I have been bookmarking two blog posts per day per site to 25 bookmark places. I have got a handful of traffic from these sites as well as organic traffic for one of my sites.

So far, I have 97 hops, no sales, BUT $8.05 in adsense revenue. I know you guys are against adsense and Affiliate products on the same page, but I only did it on one site - The others have affiliate pages only.

Looking at what I have done...am I on the right path?
What do I need to focus on now?

Thanks

Stick at it, persevere, learn as you go.

As the old saying goes: "Mighty oaks from little acorns grow."

Great things may come from small beginnings.

    Good luck to you,

    Andy.

  • I'm actually impressed.

You've made $8.05 more than I did in my first week of affiliate marketing

Right now though I would say its too early to tell how effective your promotional and marketing strategies are. Keep doing what you are doing for another 3 weeks and see what happens.

    2 questions:

    1) is all of your content unique?
    2) where are you trying to get traffic from other than the search engines?

Looks like a solid plan. Have you submitted your blog rss feed to blog directories such as feedagg.com or feedage.com? Also when your articles go live submit the RSS feed to rss directories as well.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

Yes all of my content is unique. I have used a little PLR on one of my sites, but I rewrote it a little.

I dont really know where to get traffic, so I am just waiting for my EZAs to get approved.

    Hi,
At least you are taking action. Don't get too spread out doing too many things. Stay focused and try not to get frustrated. I have seen some crappy articles make sales so article writing will work eventually once the traffic starts rolling.
    Good Luck,

I am hoping that my articles arent crap. The reason I decided to give AM a try, is because of the ghostwriting I have been doing over the past few months. I figure, people are paying me $10-$15 per article, I must be doing something right.

sounds good to me. Just be patient.

It takes 30days+ to articles to appear on article sites, it takes XYZ days to get a decent Google Index up. But i think you're on the way.

Article Marketing, Squidoo, Social BM etc..etc. thats what i do also. Always have someone working on articles or social BM, right now someone makes more lenses pointing to my newer blogs. Patience is the key

How many lenses per site do you make?

First of all, congratulations for taking action.

It takes time to propegate enough links to get the traffic and get up in the search engine listings. That is the discouraging part for many people. You just have to keep at it. Even though you are not seeing much right now, keep getting backlinks.

Some markets do better than others. So give it about 200 hops to a particular item and see where you stand. If it does not convert, and it is an affiliate product, change it out for something else.

So it is good to have a redirect url, so that you can change your item out for another, if you find it is not converting. That way, you don't lose out on the articles you have written and gotten on other peoples sites from the article directories.

You could also have the copywriting critiqued here on the forum and make changes. Test it and see how it converts.

Just focus on these sites till you get them making $$ you are happy with. Hope you are building a list... that sure makes a difference down the road.

The fact that you made any money the first week is great; I'm sure you are in the minority on that.
