Potential Problems - Hosting a webinar

I have read a lot of the forums posts about webinars from the attendees side I gathered:

- Presenters reputation MATTER
- Actual Quality Content MATTERS
- Replay Availability MATTERS
- < 60 min webinars MATTER

My question is to the hosts of webinars.... Im looking into doing my first webinar and I wanted to know:

  1. What is the biggest hurdle or potential problem area when conducting your webinar? (right now for me, it looks like it would be promotion and getting attendees)
  2. What is your advice to minimize that hurdle?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

Thanks for the link.... Never came across it in my initial research. Will check it out.

Just to add: Do you have any insights as to potential problems areas for webinar newbies? Promotion, closing, or was choosing a webinar platform a problem area for you once you were starting out?

I would love to hear more from anyone that's put a webinar or conference together. Our company is interested in doing this at some point and would appreciate any input from a veteran!

anymeeting is pretty cool and I've used it before. The biggest complaint we had with anymeeting (recently freebinar) was that the viewers complained about seeing rotating ads on the side of the interface. That and the fact that sometimes the recording didn't work were the only two problems we had with anymeeting.

I've used gotowebinar as well with it's full share of pros and cons (too long to list here) and it's not too bad either. However, if you're on a Mac like me, they don't show nearly as much love to Mac users (no recording?????) so beware.

What you need to be wary of:
        • Keeping the attention of viewers
        • Viewer participation - This is important
        • The correct way and time to pitch your product - You'll watch them drop like flies if you pitch the wrong way
        • How to optimize your slides for the webinar
        • The optimal way to build your list - gotowebinar has a really dumb way of getting contacts (10 second waiting period????). There are better ways out there.
        • How to get attendees - One option is to JV with big list owners

Good luck, webinars trample teleseminars and will continue to do so (I think)

Does Anymeeting.com still now do recordings with Macs? Are there any other issues Anymeeting has with Macs? Have you heard anything about GVO/Meetcheap?

          Thanks

My dad runs webinars now and then for his business , and I know the main trouble he had was his crappy web connection. In most cases there is probably not a whole lot you can do, but it may be best to look at hosting the webinar from somewhere where you have a decent connection just on the off chance.
