Go From Six Figures To Seven Figures In 2009!

I wanted to create a new thread for this, as this was one of the questions I asked several people when I was stuck at six figures. I did. I asked Mike Filsaime and picked his brain on this... John Reese... Keith Baxter... many others

this stage of my IM career, I am ready to pay for all the answers, provided
somebody can actually provide them.

In med school, you get the whole human anatomy...not just the vital organs.

That's all I'm asking for here.
So, here you go and have a great Christmas, Happy Holidays, New Years, etc etc etc

++++

Going from six figures to seven figures is all about systems and reach.

How many people do you reach? What systems and mechanisms do you deploy to REACH the people you already do at the six figure level? What you need is to reach more prospects.

This usually requires you to leave comfort zones and push your own limits and thoughts as well. You have to do things that are currently not comfortable for you. This is called growth.

I saw Mike Filsaime on Fox News a while back. That's (IMO) pushing your own comfort zone (and reaching a ton more people in the process as well). That's called Public Relations (PR). If Mike continues to grab media spots, he'll reach more people.

If you spend $2000 on Google Adwords per month, then you can ramp that up higher. You can spend 20k per month. You can initiate media buys online. You can enter the CPA networks. You can buy a ton of advertising online. See tribalfusion.com, advertising.com, etc

REACH is critical. The WF is reach. Do you reach the WF members through WSO's? This is one market place (a great one at that).

Launching more stuff. When I asked Mike his opinion on how I can reach 7 figures over two years ago, he said: People think they must grow like this: 2k to 5k to 10k to 13k to 15k to 18k to 20k to 25k to 30k to 38k to 40k and so on.

It does not work like that. You go from 2k to 15k to 50k with each new Major change in your business - or launching a new thing. One launch can catapult you to the next financial level.

Matt Bacak said that if you make 10k per month, then you have a 10k per month business system. A 100k per month income has a 100k per month business system. That is true.

If you are at 1k per month, then you have a 1k per month system.

I have salespeople, programmers, technical support, web designers, graphic artists, customer support, mentors and partners. I have a call center... am implementing media buying... have PPC management company brewing... and so on. To me, that's a 10 million dollar + business system.

When I made 10k per month, I had a 10k per month system. I did copywriting. Whoo hooo - what a system!

And since Wags wants an IM university... here's your assignment for approaching the year 2009:

Pull out a sheet of paper and invest at least 20 minutes writing down what you think you need to do MORE of to reach 1,000,000 per year. Write down what specific things you can do. Here's an example:

-- Go to more seminars (speak at seminars)
-- conduct workshops
-- create high ticket products to sell my customers on backend
-- quadruple my traffic
-- finally test my stuff (split testing)
-- outsource all the tedious stuff I dont need to spend my time doing myself
-- launch more projects without worrying so much if people will like it or not
-- strike relationships so I can expand my reach through JV's, etc
-- conduct tele-seminars and webinars in my market

-- AND launch a new, killer, full-blown, membership site!

Things like that. (these are just examples BTW)

If you make six figures, you can make seven. You can do that by just
expanding your reach!

Lastly, the mindset is different at seven figures (but barely). The only
difference is there's another zero

Eric
PS - Wags made me do it.
PPS - One of my goals for 2009 is to add another zero!

Happy 2009!

    Eric,
Great post - Hope you and your family have a great 2009. I've found that the steps to a higher earnings level follow some form of progression based on as you mention stepping out of your comfort level.

For me it started with adsense, then progressed to affiliate products, then to my own products and speaking at seminars. Each new level has added to my profit potential and has involved learning new systems, spending some profits on growing my business (investing to grow) and entering a non-comfort zone.

As always, sound advice from you in your posting.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

This is one of the many reasons why I like Eric. I remember back in the day when he was a budding copy writer and my oh my look how he's bloomed. He's not afraid to voice his opinion, give back to the forum, and walks the talk.

Warriors if you do not have Eric in your "must read" listings on the forum - do it now.

Reason why - You can DO what he teaches.

    Listen...

A LOT of what is sold/taught today CANNOT be accomplished by average internet marketers. (oh, I know the sales page said you could, but you can't) It works for the sellers, but it's not going to work for the buyers for too many reasons to go into here.

HOWEVER - Eric's products/posts are for mass consumption. They work for the "average" IMer. That does not mean it's easy or simplistic. But using what Eric has posted in the WF can mean 7 figures for many.

He's not teaching trends or fads but fundamental business principles that work in any economy and any niche.

Eric, keep up the GREAT work!!

    Merry Christmas, Paul

Awesome post! I sure wouldn't mind hitting 7 figures in 2009. Heck, I was shocked when I hit six figures in '08. Now I see that it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I have a feeling it will be the same for 7 figures. The trick is to just keep pushing yourself.

I can definitely agree with this post. But I don't think it's just for going from 6 figures to 7 figures. Getting out of your comfort zone is the key to entrepreneurship & business development. So, even from going from start-up to your first 6 figures this works as well, but requires more FOCUS in certain elements of the business for growth.

Great post. Reminds what I like about this place -- pure positivity.

That's the key to success -- avoiding negativity, avoiding cynicism, avoiding fatalism. I'm making a conscious effort to avoid negative people and negative news (that's really hard to do right now!) and it's helping my mindset dramatically.

    Forge ahead with optimism, Warriors!

I've known Eric for some time now and have seen him walk the talk. I think if people take a serious look at this post it will create new 6 and 7 figure earners.

I've been preaching the power of distribution for years on this forum and it falls mostly on deaf ears because most people are looking for the newest, latest thing; or, they're looking for that super fast short cut. Sure, there are genuine short cuts out there, but you've got to be really careful on the ones you choose.

Let me give you one example of what I'm talking when it comes to distribution. About 5 years ago I wrote a book, based on my own life experience, on how to meet and date women. It sold for $27 at the time and I drove traffic to the sales page using PPC based on 50 keywords. It made me a whopping profit of $400 a month.

Then I began writing articles and distributing them. I began using press releases, thus expanding my reach and distribution channels. Then I got a little smarter and created several more back-end products, as well as combining affiliate marketing by recommending some of my competitor's products (ones that I purchased and whole-heartedly could recommend). Then I added a high ticket backend.

I found other niche websites to buy advertising on, thus increasing my distribution channel. By testing, tracking, and tweaking all my advertising I was able to build a sizeable business. Wash, rinse, and repeat until you achieve your income goals.

The OP's recommendation on taking out a piece of paper and figuring out what you need to do to earn more is simple, but extremely powerful. I'm surprised this post didn't get more feedback.

A lot of people commenting in this thread are saying stuff like "one day" and "I'd like that".

    What happened to Today!!

Like is not even close to near enough. Desire is getting closer. To get 7 figures you need to be completely obsessed and immersed in it.

Eric won't tell you but he also has another thing in is favor. Instinct.

You need boldness, instinct, self belief and complete persistence.

Well done Eric, I remember when you posted about quitting your job. Things have changed for both of us since then!
