Hey There, I'm somewhat of a marketing noob so I'm going to you guys, the experts if you could help me out I'd appreciate it . I started marketing through facebook PPC and it's pretty crappy. I mean I get clicks on the campaign but nobody is buying, my theory is that facebook people aren't looking to buy stuff, they're just on facebook to talk. Can anyone identify what my problem might be int terms of not converting people into buys? and any suggestions as to the best forms of online advertising? Thanks I really appreciate it!

I have heard mixed results from Facebook PPC. I have personally never embarked on it, but I was going to try CPA offers in the near future just for fun. What products are you trying to offer them? I was planning on just running some simple CPA offers where people just have to give out their email or phone number.

There's a great book out called "Facebook Marketing" by Steven Holzner. It's available thru Amazon but I bought my copy at a (physical) Borders bookstore.

The book has a Chapter on Facebook Advertising (101) and another chapter on Optimizing and Monitoring your Facebook Advertising.

I learned a lot. It's better (and cheaper) than most Guru-related Facebook WSOs. I highly recommend it.

Hope this helps you out. And, good luck.

I used to sell this Squidoo training course (it was even a WSO once), now I'm giving it away at Free Squidoo Training. It's my way of giving back to the IM community.

I'm selling a high speed internet service. But ya that's the problem with facebook is our market is probably an older person that the teens. That could be the root of a lot of misses through facebook. I'm sure that a product with a younger age audience would work much better.

I've still got my $50 voucher. I can loosely guess image based ads will perform much better than just text ones.

I believe it's all about hitting the right demographic, like you would an Adwords campaign with all their specific type of targeting.

I tried FaceBook PPC with my jibbitz/shoe doodles shoe charms. My problem was they kept wanting more money per click to run my ads - I'd pay and they would run the ad for the day then thats it.
I just got frustrated with it and stopped doing it.
They would set a min amount that they wanted per click and I would set my account for that but then my ads would never run. I tried setting it high - far higher then their min and they still didn't run my ads.
I would make a new ad - set the cost per click way over their min suggestion. The ad would run for the day and i would get clicks (don't think any converted to sales though) and I had a decent click through rate ( I usually get 18% - 35% on my Google Ads) but then they would stop showing my ad
If I have to babysit it and create a new ad each day then its not worth it to me.
I finally gave up - hell if they don't want my money then I'll spend it elsewhere.

Believe it or not I found Google easier to work with.

I have another product I might try that appeals more to the masses. I'll give that a shot before I close the book completely on Facebook PPC

I do have better luck with Google though

MySpace is more friendly if you're promoting affiliate products.

I have tried marketing on Facebook and it just didn't work. I didn't make a single conversion. It is probably better to join a social networking site that specializes in Business. The more you talk to people, the more sales you make.
