Ezine Article Tip: Article Length to Resource Box Length

I have tried just about every single different article writing technique. Stuff I have read about and stuff I was just curious about to test. All to try to achieve one thing - to get the most out of my time when writing an article.

The best way that I have found is to write shorter articles usually under 300 words and then have a longer then normal resource box. Usually my resource box will be about 100 words sometimes more.

The good part about this is that my resource boxes can be used over and over again so all I really need to worry about is making short 300 word articles.

I have found that these shorter articles get better results... maybe because it makes the reader want to learn more - more effectively? Maybe because they are short and sweet? Not sure what the reason is although I just wanted to share it with all the warriors.

I hope this helps some of you that are struggling to get a high click through rate from your articles.

    Hey Jeffrey,

I tried your last article marketing tip and it worked out pretty well for me.

I'll be sure to give this one a try too.

    Cheers

Yeah, I agree. My best articles (in terms of click thru rates) are shorter than 300 words. And my standard resource box is pretty long.

      A question for all

      - a 300 word article is good for EZA, but what if you wish to upload similar articles like this for a site for SEO purposes (a content site, with articles) then is a 300 article still ok to use?

as i heard they have to be 400-600 words in length. 300 might be good for click thru but for webpages and SEO what length articles are recommended?

        This is interesting

I have been doing the exact opposite and making my resource boxes very short indeed - and with a resultant increase in my average click thru rate.

I am not so good at tracking so i cannot tell you the monetary impact but..

I made more this month than last

Why not do both? Trying to conquer a specific niche? Outsource the long article... and write the short article yourself. Have them target the same keywords, but covering 2 different aspects of the topic in regards to the keywords targeted. Then you will get the best of both worlds.

    You guys,

Just make sure you are not just tracking click-throughs.

I'd be very interested to know the difference in sales conversions.

      Good point!

I suspect longer articles are better pre-sell, but I'm only
      assuming.

One thing to remember with article marketing tips and tricks is that a lot of them will vary from niche to niche. Some seem to prefer the short and sweet ones to make them clickthrough to the site, others require much more detail before they will click through. In the end the big thing is to test and when you find what works for a specific niche capitalize on it and keep it going.

You guys are right... it does vary between niches how to write articles... also it matters how well they are written.

However, for the niches I have been writing for - this way has worked well for me and I wanted to share it.

How does this technique affect your article rankings?

I've found my highest ranking articles *generally* are longer, 500 ish word articles.

My fear is that by using the same 100-150 words at the bottom of your articles, you increase the risk of duplicate content while decreasing your keyword density.

Nice idea! I will definitely give this a try. When I think about it, when I have done this (more by accident than anything) I have had more click throughs.

Yeah let me know if any of you see differences in your CTR after you implement this method. It really works for me. Plus, it speeds up my article writing. The more articles the more traffic. That's how I like it.

Hey Jeffrey, but what about having the article republished? I would think that other targeted website publishers (who could drive lots of traffic) would be less likely to publish your article if the byline seemed to overtake the content.

I'm not sure if that's a goal with your article marketing or not, but thought I'd ask.

To understand if this tip really works you have to know what you want your article to do.

I have Adsense pages that have a great clickthrough rate of around 28% which makes me a profit for each click but alas this means they hate the content and can't wait to get away lol.

With articles, you want to write something brilliant and pre-selling worthy as no one will publish a 200 word article with a 500 word author box lol. ASnd of course, that's where most of my EZA traffic comes from. (being published)

Thanks for the tip and good luck all.

    Louis

Well however you write your article will help you no matter what. Just wanted to tell people that when I write longer resource boxes it seems I get a better CTR. That is what we all want anyway.
