Awake, asleep, who cares?

The main point of the story is the OP created something once and made money from it long after he'd forgotten he had that particular asset.

Gary (zacsmith) and his wife did the hard work once, and now they make money with minimal attention - which is the real definition of "autopilot income" IMO.

Bottom line, work on building assets, be that products, mailing lists, affiliate sites, whatever. Make your assets work on making money.

Frankly I don't think so. Most of us WANT to make money while sleeping, but my guess is that most members don't manage to do it.

Yep, I'm based in the GMT+2 time zone, which means most of my sales happen while I'm sleeping since the USA is about 7-9 hours behind me. It's a cool feeling waking up and getting that email saying 'You've made a sale'.

I know the feeling . I got into habit of waking up and checking up sales i made while i was asleep . This is power of the internet . It is amazing

But if you think that you do nothing and you make money in your sleep, that is not how it works .It is not that easy . You go to bed and wake and see money .

You have to set up systems to deliver your value to people whether you are awake or asleep . When you do that you would make some money in your sleep and keep seeing the money come true if you get the right visitors to your offer and have something of real value that solves your visitors problems

People would come to website whether you are sleep or awake , if you have a solution , a converting sales page and payment processor , you see the money during the day or at night

Newbies: You don't make money sleeping unless you work for a sleep disorder clinic.
You actually have to do some work beforehand and then maybe, you might actually make a sale while you are sleeping.

Beware of promises of easy money, like the OP.

I think that's a much more accurate way of looking at. I think most of us probably make SALES while were are sleeping, but that's because we've put in the work every day while we were awake to set up things up in a proper way and then keep them going on the right track.

"I make money while I sleep" makes it sound like there is no work involved whatsoever, and that's just not the case. That always smacks of 'scam' to me, as well.

And actually, Suzanne, if you work for a sleep disorder clinic, you're probably making money because you're NOT sleeping.

I know this goes counter to the current guru trend of "super-fast content," but my wife and I spent two years developing our first product 10 years ago, and it continues to generate income, while we sleep or while we're on vacation, with annual small updates.

Work now on an evergreen product and it will produce for years.

Exactly . You have to do some work first and be a little patient before you start making money in your sleep . If you are willing to do work required you would eventually make sales whether you are awake or asleep

I make a good deal of money when I'm asleep simply because I live in Europe and a good many customers are in the USA and Australia. For me its a time zone thing, not a 'don't work for it' thing

I make most of my sells on auto piolt that is the great thing about affialte marketing do some seo, and content. Put adsense and clickbank on. Go to sleep and make money.

Making money when you sleep is result of right long term attitude.
I think most newbies make big fault when they are starving to make first sale and they don't build their long term assets like list or website with stable traffic

Thanks for the info. I think when you have a great product, it is inevitable that you will get some sales, as long as you keep promoting it.

I agree, Clickbank is a great place to promote a digital product, but there are many other great places to promote as well.

I've always entertained the idea of making money in my sleep... I don't sleep much, but when I do boii does it feel good when you wake up freshened up in the morning and you check those numbers!

It only gets better when ClickBank, CJ and Adsense deposit those right into your account for you, without you even knowing!

Almost all my online income is passive right now... I'm loving it... Making money while sleeping, clubbing, travelling etc.

It takes a while to get there but once you set up the system, tested and tweaked it then you're basically just monitoring your stats on and off and waiting for the money to come in =)
