Can I Delete My Hubpages And Add Its Content To A New WP Domain?

Hi Warriors,

I know I can do what the above question asks but what I really mean is would doing it just be a waste of time?


I have a ton of hubpages that I created for last year's Christmas season. At the time they all did well in the rankings and I made a bit of cash for November and December.


The Hubs are in the toy niche so naturally from January onwards sales just dropped which I expected but after the Google Panda/Farmer change nearly all my Hubs got battered in the rankings


Very frustrating as the content was unique although maybe I could have been more careful with my back linking.


Anyway, since then these Hubs get almost zero traffic. I figure it probably isn't worth my effort to try to get these Hubs back up the ranks again.


But, what about if I bought a domain, set it up for that niche and then started adding the content from these dead Hubs.


Am I being naïve or will doing this maybe help revitalize the content?


I know from last year's stats that many of these products will still be popular even this Christmas so why let them sit on a dead Hub!


I would have to delete the Hub to remove it from index.


Do you think that would be enough to prevent the content on the new site from being seen as duplicate?


Some of the content has also been submitted to article directory and Web 2.0 sites. Do you think these could be a problem?


As for the new site, I am not planning on spinning the content as it would take too long. I would just remove it from the Hub and place it on a new site, new domain.

Have any of you done anything like this before?


Would there be a ranking issue because of the duplicate content?



I would very much appreciate any advice offered.

    • That is great news! Hubpages has been hitting some of my top drawing hubs lately. Saying they are spammy even though they have been published for three years in most cases without a bit of problems.

      I am happy to hear that I can pull them down and then put them up elsewhere. Cause it is terrible to see my articles drop down to nothing and before you ask these were hubs that were still traffic pullers after the Panda release.

  • Will it hurt if I leave my hubpages up if I only made a few before the update?
  • I'm interested if anyone else has experience with this. I too have a heap of hubpages with 80% now getting 0 views thanks to the algo change. They cover a broad number of topics and aren't really suitable to use on a niche site, but the content is invisible on hubpages so I'd prefer to get some value from it elsewhere. From what i hear most 2.0 sites have also been hammered by panda so does anyone have any other suggestions as to where this content might find a good home?

    I am glad I am not the only person thinking of this option.

    It is a shame about the battering Hubpages got from the Google update. Being new to IM at the time I put all my eggs in the Hubpages basket as they were so quick to index and ranked very well.

    The Google update taught me that I need to OWN sites to be more in control of my business.

    So, maybe it is a good idea to sift through our Hubs and pick out the ones that are struggling and add that exact content to a newly built domain.

    The way I see it, if you have enough content, or Hubs, in the same niche then all you need to do is build a domain around that niche and then you have ready written articles.

    Of course in theory it sounds simple enough but I wonder if Google would see this as duplicate even if the original Hub was deleted.

    If you have a whole bunch of good content just sitting on Hubs getting zero traffic then maybe you should throw up a site and add the content there.

    I will probably do the same but just wanted to pick some of the Warriors brains first to see if any have already tried this out.

    Seems like either no one has or no one cares...lol

  • Google Panda hit HubPages HARD but the real question is whether or not those pages, with proper promotion, will do well again in September when the holiday season starts to come around again.

    Either way, you can definitely delete your hub pages and use them elsewhere. It's probably safer for you, from a marketing standpoint, because you'll get a higher cut of the commissions and you won't have to worry about your Hub account being shut down for some reason (thus losing all of your work).
