What's a squeeze page?

I see that term used a lot around here? Is it similar to a landing page? (I know what a landing page is.)

A squeeze page is specifically a (typically short) page with a prominently incentivised opt-in and no other content. The "prominently incentivised" part can be text only, video only or a mixture of the two.

A squeeze page can be used as a landing page, of course (but then so can almost any other sort of page).

It's where you trade your email address and name for something for free.

A landing page is just whatever page you make people "land on" when they follow a link you put somewhere. (the page your link links to)

As mentioned it is a simple single page which has one purpose, to get the visitor to give you their name and email, or in some cases just their email. This gets them onto your list. It will usually offer a freebie in exchange, however, it has also been used to collect information about a niche topic.

Like.... What is your most burning question about ???? (insert niche).

And in addition to them inserting their name and email, they put their question into a text box.

This was used to collect information which was then used to develop a product (ebook usually).

This was part of the original Underachiever method promoted by Frank Kern and Ed Dale and was responsible for getting a lot of people started in Niche Marketing.

These days the term squeeze page refers usually to just the plain 'opt in' page and I have included a couple of examples below.

    Hope that helps.

The purpose of the squeeze page is to capture the prospect's email address. In return, you give them something for free -- a special report, a book, an audio session, whatever. You need to offer something juicy. These days, people don't just give their email address to a website unless they're really interested in the offer.

Squeeze page tries to get the visitor to give their email in exchange for a video, report, newsletter subscription, etc.
