I am currently looking for a programmer that I can hire soon.

I have something I would like to have for my sites but cannot find any scripts that do what I want to do.

Any recommendations?

I have looked around at freelance sites but would like to get some warrior input.

  • I hire programmers all the time, it depends on what you are looking to have made.

I would look at the free lance places and get familiar with them

I use rent a coder and scriptlance and have decent luck with them, some of the others the programmers are a little high price for me.

Just make sure to get exclusive rights to your stuff in writing when posting.

If you have any particular questions give me a pm and I will see if I can help

    • I have 25 programmers as employees which we often do contract out @ $125/hr. What type of application are you requesting?

P.S. I pay very high wages, so don't try to hire them!

    • Jeremy,

"Programmers" come in all different types with all kinds of different skill sets, core competencies, and experience, you know? so ...

If you give us some "rough idea" of the types of programming you are looking for / potential skills/experience requirements, then ...

We may be able to help you find the Best Match(es), ok?

I hope this helps and Have a Great Day!

P.S. You are also Welcome to Post Your Job Ad(s) for Programmers at The Virtual Consulting Firm's Jobs Board, ok?
again, you will need to specify the skills/experience requirements therein too, you know?
  • There are a number of resources, as mentioned by other posts, such as scriptlance, getafreelancer, ect.

I would avoid any hourly rates, they are for corporations that need a tax write off, the more modern model is by the project fee.

You need to have a well written spec and stick to it because if you start making a lot of changes they will add fees to the cost of the project.

I have found that I can get most projects done, for less than what the more expensive programmers charge for just one hour.

The reason I can get that kind of rate is that I write a specific document detailing exactly what I want, often including code, of course not everyone can do that, but if you can write a spec that is not confusing to the programmer you will find that you can get the work done for a lot less than an hourly rate.

To be honest, there is just no way for the programmer to be motivated to finish quickly, thus hourly is the old way, (back when a website would run you around 10,0000.00 these days you can get a website done for a few hundred, or even less)

Some folks just have not moved on yet, the biggest problem when attempting to hire a programmer is that you have to find a way to communicate what you want done, this can be hard for a non programmer, since often terms, that describe a programming function, are different than a verbal explanation of what you want your website to do.

    hope this helps,

    have a good day.

    • Thanks for the replies.

I understand I need to put out a more detailed explanation, I also am trying to keep this under wraps somewhat as like a lot of us its a product creation Idea that I want to have developed.

I do believe that it would be javascript, maybe even php.

If anyone would like to know more I am on skype or PM me.

    • Jeremy,

Send me a PM with specs, we'll do a free analysis with full flowcharting, and estimate. The cost of the project will be guaranteed in writing. And, with our resources, the turn around time could be as short as 10 days.
