How NOT to Steal digital WSO products... [UPDATE]

Good day,

I was alerted to one of my products being stolen and downloaded for free on a particular site. So I did the usual contact of Webhost, domain host (GoDaddy) and Domains By Proxy.

I also contacted every affiliate program they have on their site and let them know that the particular site they are associated with is committing illegal activities.

I'm sure Google and Amazon do not want to be associated with those sites.

Here's the lesson...

If you're going to steal someone's product at least change the dam image. What they did was direct link my image so I quickly replaced it with a nice little notice. Here's that little surprise...

PPS. I'm not concerned as much about the information although it does suck. But what I'm most concerned about is the entire principle of the matter. I have the means to go after this type of thing and maybe help other marketers who cannot afford to pursue something like this further.

I did notice a ton of other WSO material on that site and am contacting people to have this site shut down. It may take a while due to Christmas and all but it will be gone sooner rather than later

    Mike nice one, I did something like that when someone was hotlinking to a graphic on my site. I changed the graphic and they didn't notice it.

    Once someone copied my site (hot-linking to my images as well) so I changed those images to something disturbingly disgusting. It took the thief 3 weeks to realize why his Adwords ads do not convert well

    I was also alerted that my products were being illegally given away/sold on the same site. What a pity to see so many good products being illegally given away/sold on that site. Some of the material there was downright alarming.

    Glad you were able to strike back for the rest of us.

    One other thing I would like to point out is that warriors need to protect their download links.

    You wouldn't believe how many are available just by doing a search on the search engines.

    There are quite a few forums out there that I have seen with WSO downloads. But when you contact them they just ignore you.

    One forum actually lists a list of warriors that are members of that forum so the forum members won't post THEIR WSO downloads.

    Glad someone is finally striking back for us little guys.

      Yes good point... I use DL Guard and it works fantastic.

      This site in question just purchased my product and offer it from their network but hot linked to my image.. LOL

    haha I did the same thing on eBay - they stole my complete template and left it all hosted by me - I changed the images and sent them an email - they sent back a WTF email to me & called me all sorts of names for reporting them to eBay, even threatened to take all the rest of my stuff too - a real treat to deal with ahahah

    There now that didn't take too long. My product is off his website and he even was nice enough to write me back a nice long email stating how much of a criminal I am for going that route and not letting him know about it (Hmmm, his website has no contact info and he is hiding his domain whois behind Domains By Proxy)

    He also says how much of an honest person he is, blah, blah, blah...

    This was my response to Domains By Proxy:


    This person knows full well these products are not to be resold. There
    is a notice that states For Personal Use Only! Also, the website has
    no contact information. I attempted to send contact through his
    website contact form and it came back with an error.

    Those other sites he mentions are hack sites which blatantly rip off
    honest hard working people of their intellectual property. There are
    many other products on his site that are NOT issued with Resale Rights
    o any kind and are there without the authors permission or knowledge.

    The integrity of this person is definitely in question because from a
    legal stand point one cannot use ignorance of the law as an excuse. If
    he were an honest marketer then the contact information would be
    readily available on his site instead of having to use alternate means
    to get in contact with this person.

    The evidence that Mike Hill has is that this is his product. He is the
    creator and author and copyright holder of such information. Mr. Hill
    did not give anyone permission to use, sell, copy, distribute or
    reference this material and in doing so is against copyright laws in
    Canada and the United States of America.

    The product in question and from my own legal stand point was at the
    URL mentioned in my earlier communication. it's Called Huge List
    Building Secret by Mike Hill.

    I will be forwarding this communication to my lawyer as well as the
    other authors who also have their products on this persons website
    illegally according to copyright and intellectual property laws.

    As stated earlier, my legal position is to have this person remove all
    copies and association with Mike Hill and any of his products
    including but not limited to "Huge List Building Secret".

        LOL... yeah!

        First I called in the Artillery (contacted Godaddy, Domains By Proxy and his web host) which started the metal rain to pour down.

        Then after "H" hour I did a frontal assault with my recon team (Replaced hot linked image)...

        It was pretty fast too, it took less than 24 hours and I'm getting an irate email in my inbox and the page is completely gone....

        Impressive especially this close to X-Mass

        PS. I think the key to the whole thing was that I got on the phone and actually talked to people plus did a follow up email.
