Solo Ads - $200 should buy you 500-1000+ clicks per month... Convert those at 40% and your adding at least 200-400 (likely more) people a month...

Combine that with one adswap a week and your good to go

I don't like using "best" method, because it is loaded with qualifiers, subjectivity, unfocused objectives, and is of course highly dependent on the level of core skills. What I have found to be effective as well as timely is media advertising. For your budget, perhaps consider targeted ezine solo ads over a period of several months. Using PPC can be very fast, but that requires more than your budget and a high degree of experience. Another marketing method many have found to be powerful and sustainable is writing relevant articles for your market and submitting these to online publications. There are of course advantages as well as limitations to all these methods.

I always believe on the power of viral marketing because it leverage. Offer something for free that people cannot refuse to have it in your squeeze page and when they opt-in bribe them with special GIFT in exchange of their friends email address. There are several script does this for example ViralFriendGenerator, theviralscript and others I can't remember. If you do it correctly, it will help you to build list.

Yeh, and don't be afraid that you are dropping cash too much on solo ads. Remember, your list is always profit for you.

Ah lists... the moneys in the list I keep hearing...

I'm so busy working on my amazon affiliate sites, my new focus, and also will have adsense sites after that, had a domain splurge... it looks like I'm never going to get around to list building.

What kind of sites are the majority of lists built from, I'm assuming IM make money sites? .... sign up for my free report type thing?

This is a bit tangential from the op, but I actually do sell high end Amazon products to my lists. Build up these lists by selling cheap but niche-related Clickbank products, then keep pounding them with promotional products day in and day out. Every few weeks or so, kick it up a notch with ever-increasing price ranges. The secret is to find buyers, not freeloaders. Oh, and offer value to your subscribers with the hard-hitting promotions.

Create a couple reports and give them away or use Facebook ads.

List building seems to be a mystery to so many.

So here are some questions you need to ask. Do you have your autoresponder and emails ready and in place? Do you have your sqeeze page? If the answer is yes and you ready to handle getting a list, then I would suggest the ads.

I would also suggest that you do not discount free advertising with things like facebook page, twitter, linked in and other forums. You might also try media ads if you are not ready to run solo ads. These too can be quite effectve. And you can sometimes barter with others in your field if you are in the same broad market but in complimenting sub niches.

There are ton of ways to go, it really depends on your niche and what your skills and preferences are. Just remember the relationships you build with your list are priceless.

if you give away a free quality information product about your niche, it would most likely boost up your list numbers

Remember to give something for free to your audience. It must be something significant for them to opt in.

Try using PPV traffic to build a list. Most networks have starting bids of $0.010-$0.015. With a $200 budget, that gives you up to 20000 views per month. With a simple optin form, you could probably get at least 5-10% of those people to sign up for your list, which could potentially get you 1000-2000 optins each month.

Personally, I use PPV traffic only for building my lists. It's definitely the most cost-effective option, though PPV is a different traffic source and does need to be approached slightly differently than other traditional traffic sources like PPC.

Lol, I had to put myself in the position of the subscriber before my first mail out way back in the day. Memories of me clicking on the unsubscribe button were pretty vivid

I'd say play around with several methods for a few months. Devote an equal amount to each and slowly as you monitor your investment and the results, put more toward whats working and get rid of whats not working. This can be a combo of PPC, solo ads, ad swaps, product creation [having buyers on your list is always a good thing], contest, etc.

Either way man, don't wait. I'm so mad I waited months before even starting to build my list. Bad move, glad to see you're taking initiative!
