Are there email signature requirements for businesses in the US?

I know that there are regulations on business emails in the UK, but I can't find anything that pertains to the US. I know that there are suggested signature formats, but I want to be sure that my email signatures are compliant. I saw a thread around here a while ago about CAN-SPAM compliance that included a sample signature, but I can't find it. And yes, I tried searching for it, but none of the results returned what I was looking for.

I believe you are required to list your business name and the address...

at least most autoresponders require you to do this so I assume it to be true...

Oh, and an unsubscribe link, but that was probably a given

I know that the unsubscribe link is required for email marketing, but what about just regular business correspondence?

      Thanks for that information.

I would also like to know if anyone knows of email signature regulations on businesses in the US that are similar to those in the UK. In the UK, businesses must list their registration number, registered business address, and location of registration in their email signature; this is regardless of whether or not a relationship has been established with the recipient. For them, it is a requirement in ALL emails sent by the business.

I can't find anything about such a requirement here in the US, but you never can tell. I'm trying to find out if anyone else might have some info on the matter.

In the US, it's normally considered Good Practice to list official business name, address, and phone on any and all emails.

Registration number and location of registration are not generally necessary, because these differ in the US. A company may be registered in several states, counties, and locales in addition to the Federal registration, and those registrations may involve different tax IDs. If a major corporation had to list all the locations of registration for the company, it would be half a page long.

That said, if you've got one number and one location, it certainly wouldn't hurt to list it.
