Is it ok to ask this question in the main forum?

Is it ok to start a thread to find out if my service is needed before I go put the time/effort/money into a WSO or the Warriors for Hire section...

I would probably describe the service and simply ask if it's needed, based on that response I would know if I am headed in the right direction.. then again may that would be seen as promoting if people say yes and want it now...
