From 0 To An Income I Will Not Disclose - One Year Warrior Anniversary

Well, a couple of days short of that anyway. I signed up for the warrior forum on Christmas day last year.

First of all, I would like to thank the spammers

The only way that I ever got involved in Internet Marketing in the first place was the persistence of spammers sending "make money online" emails to me. One night curiosity got the better of me and I started doing some research and was hooked from that point on

Enough of that though. For my one year anniversary I want to lay out something here - a map of my progression in the hopes that people that are starting at ground Zero right now can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Trust me, if I can do this, so can you.

When I first started, just like most of you probably, I started promoting clickbank products. I had and still have no technical skill so everything I did was set up on sites like Squidoo and Blogger and it worked great for me. Within about 45 days I think, I had made my first $2,000 promoting the following niches:

- Video Games
- Yeast Infection Cures
- Hypnosis Product

I am still somewhat involved in these niches to this day and am still earning income from them even though I have not touched them for the most part in 6 months or more.

All I did was set up as many of these free sites as I possibly could and link them all to a Squidoo page and the money started rolling in. Now, many of you might say that you have tried that and it hasn't worked, right? Here are some keys to why I think this worked for me.

1. I wrote my ass off. Seriously, I was determined for this to work and I was a writing fool. I was putting out a minimum of 3 articles per day per niche consistently day after day. If you get enough content out there, you have no choice but to make money.

2. I did good keyword research. You have to understand that if you are not paying for traffic, that the keywords that you pick can either make or break you.

3. I didn't jump on every new fad that passed through. I had my plan laid out and I was going to work it until it panned out.

4. I paid attention. After the first sale came in, I was able to look back and kind of trace the process. Once you are able to do this you can sit back and realize just how simpl the process is.

5. I learned from my mistakes. I made mistakes along the way. Things like not writing good titles and resource boxes - thinking that as long as I wrote an aritcle the rest didn't matter.

Skip ahead a little bit and things make a change for the better. I soon realized after a beat down from Chris Rempel that I needed to start reinvesting back into my business. I was basically doing everything myself and was stuck at an income ceiling of about $4,000 a month. The things he said to me made a lot of sense. So, I started purchasing products and services that would make a difference to my business. And what a difference they made.

To this day, I still can not make my own webpage, but I can certainly afford to pay someone else to do it when I have to and I do sometimes.

As I gained more knowledge and "perfected" my system, I then started creating products. So far I think I have released 1 product on my own and 2 with my partner (zerofill) and the combined total of products sold is pushing the 3,000 mark which has been great.

But, what makes it even better is along the way, I have set up several streams of income that just don't seem to let up. I think it is important that anyone doing this for a living diversifies. So far, these are the income streams that are being maintained.

1. Affiliate products
2. Recurring affiliate products
3. Membership site (owned)
4. Product creation
5. Adsense
6. Coaching/consulting

In the new year, I plan on adding at least 3 more streams to that list.

Now, here is where I need to thank Allen Says and the Warrior Forum. I firmly believe that if it was not for this place that I would not have been able to get to anywhere near the level of success that I have over the past year. Chances are good that I would have gotten myself caught up in the cycle of failure that seems to happen in the IM niche.

I have asked some extremely newbie questions, but the great thing was, no matter how newbish they were, I was always able to get an answer that pointed me in the right direction. Here are a couple of the questions that I asked that make me shake my head now....

How do I make anchor text?
Do I have to use FTP to connect to Squidoo?

Seriously, that is where I started. With that being said, I don't think that there is anyone that has a desire to succeed that can't. The important thing to remember is to push through the days of no sales and picture yourself getting that first sale and more importantly, that first check

In the time that I've been here it has been a ton of fun to progress from a no nothing to someone that is actually able to contribute to the community. More importantly, someone that has been responsible for numerous people actually making their first sales and recieving their first checks.

So, again I thank everyone in this forum that has helped me along the way. You have no idea what a difference it has made in my life.

Jeremy, your story sounds very similar to mine...except it took me a hell of
a lot longer to reach the level of success that I am at. Guess I was just slow.

Anyway, congrats on your success, your 1 year anniversary and thanks for

      Thanks for sharing Jeremy.

I think something that you did that others have a hard time doing sometimes (including myself in the past), is to continue to believe in the plan you set forth. It is very easy to become distracted after reading about a different technique or business model and lose sight of your plan.

      Great post

Congratulations on your well deserved success Jeremy!

It seems that the key for your success lies here:

I wrote my ass off. Seriously, I was determined for this to work and I was a writing fool. I was putting out a minimum of 3 articles per day per niche consistently day after day.
You provided tons of original content, similar to Steven Wagenheim's strategy, and that content made sales for you.

I wish I could do the same but writing is unfortunatelly not my tallent.

I bought and watched your 30 days of coaching product and I was impressed. You did a really good job
There are so many different methods and techniques that work for making money online.
Some work better than others but the really nice part about your series is you show how YOU do it right from the ground up. No BS and the proof is right there.

There are lots of people who talk about how to do it but they rarely show you what works.
I think those who talk about it are only regurgitating what they have read somewhere else. Its not that they use the technique and have been successful with it.

The IM niche is loaded with people who are trying to make money off of people trying to make money in IM who are learning to make money off of others who are trying to make money in IM.

Looks like you've found your own niche

    Good luck in 2009

    Hey Jeremy,
I like your story and wish you all the best in your future. It's inspiring and motivating for the new comers and shows that it CAN be done and this IM thing is real.

Now I do have a question or two, did you do IM full time or part time with a 9 to 5 day job?

Second do you think having technical(web/Html/web hosting all that fancy stuff) background might have helped you little more or you think it didn't really matter much?

Thank you for sharing your story.

Actually, up until about 6 months ago I had a 9AM - 8PM job working at a mobile home lot So, most of my Internet Marketing was done extremely early in the morning or late at night after my kids went off to bed

As far as would the technical skills have made me more money? I'm not sure...Like I said, I still don't have those skills except for some very basic skills.

So how many articles was that a day? was it only for those 3 niches? Is there a minimum number or articles per blog that u used? some say 5 some say 10? or did you just keep on adding articles until you've gotten results?

Im looking to following a similar system. Just trying to perfect my plan.

In the beginning I was just going nuts, literally. I was pounding on my keyboard until my fingers hurt.

But, when you actually take a step back and look at how things work...it makes a big difference.

For instance, good keyword research alone makes a ton of difference. This is especially true in the more competitive niches that I like to get into. With putting smart work in upfront I was able to reduce the number of articles I had to write dramatically which in turn let me focus on things like building backlinks etc. Which then allowed me to get enough traffic to those niches to move to other niches and set up different streams of income.

    JK,

this is an awesome and VERY insightful post.

I am amazed that you started out at ZERO and you said you made $2000 in CB after about 40 days? This is outstanding.

It makes me realize how WRONG i started out, as a programmer with a total "wrong" focus on creating and designing a site and spending a long time making my first XSITE pro site - while others with no design/HTML skill focus on the RIGHT stuff, "just" go on blogger and squidoo and rake in money without the overhead of programming and web site design.

This is truly great and shows that it can be fatal to focus on the wrong things, time spent on projects which ultimately wont yield a ROI worthy the time spent on.

You nailed it with doing exactly the right things like writing articles and submitting them and with your consistency in what you're doing!

George, how true your observations are. Many moons ago I joined a VRE membership run by a respected warrior and spent about a month editing css layouts and all that to get the perfect seo-friendly template for my niche sites. In the meantime, some other warriors put up some of the crappiest sites I ever saw and blew mine away income-wise. Just shows you that I have a techie focus and other more successful people have a business focus. I have remedied that to an extent, but I still go back...

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks for your wonderful post.

I can relate to it as I believe it somehow depicts a successful Internet Marketers' journey.

I remember I used to wake up at 4am to create my ebooks till about 8am and later finding myself dozing off at work in my office.

And after I got home from work, I had to spent another 5 hours working on my business and making sure that it gets as automated as possible so that it can provide me with the recurring and passive income right now.

I believe each of us has something to learn but not necessary, we must master it.

Like what you said, we got to leverage on our strength and enjoy this journey of ours.

And finally a big thank you for all the help you have given me.

    Cheers,

Trying to keep the money coming in from your "real job" and trying to successfully start a business of your own on the side can really beat you down sometimes.

    Jeremy
For some reason, that post inspired me the most. And there have been a lot of wonderfully inspiring posts here.

I haven't made money from IM yet, other than writing articles for my clients, but I'm finally getting my plan organized and will be diving in after the first of the year. One of the things I look forward to the most after I start making a steady income from IM is helping others do the same.

    Thanks, Jeremy!
