How Can I Tie Up http and www domains?

Hi warriors

Got a problem that is doing my head in! Have been trying to rank for a keyword and have spent a lot of time and effort building back-links etc but when I check in market samurai there seems a big discrepancy between the http// url and the www url as if they are not tied in together in google's eyes.

Can anyone tell me how to overcome this?

Thanks

Neil

do a 301 redirect from the root domain to the www. That will solve any issues.

There are a bunch of ways to do it using PHP, meta tages, etc.. If you need help, let me know.

If you're using the WordPress CMS you can change it in the settings.

I always put it on the www version.

A 301 redirect if you're not using WordPress.

Thanks guys. I am using wordpress so do I do that by making the wordpress address and site address the www version in 'settings'?

Also will I still retain the back-links to the root domain once I have done this?

      Thanks

You're right, you need to change both the WordPress address and the site address in the settings.

I'm not sure what will happen with the backlinks to be honest, but I've never had any problems with my sites when doing this.

You shouldn't have any issues with the backlinks at all. I don't think the www resolve is a big deal in actuality.
