I'm An Idiot...Somebody Shoot Me! @%#

With all the intelligent things that I do, I can sometimes just be a blooming
idiot.

Okay, it's no secret anymore but one of my authority sites is a health site.

The problem is, it's ALL over the place. It tackles every disease known to
man. Therefore, unless I have specific pages targeting each disease (which
I don't have right now) I'm not getting really targeted people to my main
page.

Now, let me explain how the main page is set up right now.

It's simple. They get their from one of many articles I've written on various
health related topics through a resource box that essentially says this...

get your free report on natural health cures.

It's really pretty lame. It was put together before I really got into writing
killer resource boxes. And yet, I still get tons of traffic...Go figure.

Problem is, they opt in to get the free report but it doesn't convert because
these people are all over the map as far as what's ailing them.

In other words, they're not targeted enough.

Well, all of a sudden today, I got a DUH! moment.

And it's this simple.

1. Find a product on Clickbank related to the health problem.

2. Get it.

3. Review it.

4. Put the review on its own special page on my authority site.

5. Write an article on the topic.

6. In the resource box, direct people to the review page...not the main
page.

7. Make tons of sales.

8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for tons of products.

I'm already getting the traffic. All I have to do is give them something
to freakin buy.

Oh sometimes I am such a moron.

I'll be starting this in January and probably adding another 2 to 3K a
month to my bottom line.

Okay, so somebody shoot me.

It's what goes under your article that is used to get people to your site.

      Something like...

"Tired of being chronically tired? Visit my site at <URL> and rejuvenate
      yourself TODAY!"

Okay, that's kind of lame, but off the top of my head right now, it's all
I can think of...But you get the idea.

      That's a resource box.

I see no exclamation point in your post so I have to believe that your
          being sarcastic right?

Guess that makes both of our posts equally useless to the thread.

Perhaps you can take your best performing ailments, write a separate report for each and then direct the appropriate traffic to different squeeze pages with "laser-targeted" autoresponders. That should help boost conversions.

Better still, you can sell these mini-reports for very low prices (10-20 bucks) to build a big customer list the same way Perry Belcher did (total con-man selling How to Cure Cancer for $17 but his 'system' is very good) and then upsell them on the back-end.

Steven, I have been in that "niche" for ten years. I started out like you. Being in the natural health field, I could write about sooo many subjects., and so there is a little of everything. lol

What you are going to do will certainly work better.

I do find though, even when you get them to click through from a presell page to a health report, such as on clickbank, many do not convert well. For many about 1 in 150 clicks or more.

I finally decided that it is a group that wants to be "entertained" with health articles, but many will not take action.

If you get things to go well, I would love to hear about it. I really, really would. This has been my most frustrating site ever.

So here is a tip, I did better with it when I sold vitamins and shpped them out. I don't do that anymore due to some serial refunders and people that undercut prices so bad, but I find the vitamins and herbs sell a little better than heatlh reports. So now I do some affiliate sales.

Jeannie, thanks for the info. This is very interesting indeed. I wasn't aware
of this as I don't do a lot of direct affiliate marketing in this niche. But I
do crank out a few sales from time to time.

      The main sellers are:

      yeast infections
      impotence
      asthma and allergy
      diabetes

The rest of the stuff on my site, for the most part, never sold a thing.

I didn't mean that, but it was nice of you to share your best sellers Steven. I jsut wanted to know if you can get this to really work well, with good conversion.

When I can get about one out of 30 or 40 clicks to make a purchase in another niche,
and I really pondered on if I want to spend my time on what I love, or what is going to make me the most return for my time, It was not this health site.

I have changed my newsletter out 3 times and gone from products to clickbank and my own ebooks full swing back to products, although affiliated. I still sell ebooks, but the
do find the health products sell better.

If you want to look into those, I will say to watch out for an herbal company with the initials of N.R. Not to bash anyone, but they have major problems with their software distinguishing first cookie, who makes the sale, and will sometimes split the commission with other affiliates. And even though they say lifetime commissions, they will stop giving a person commissions on any one who places an automatic reorder as well.

Someone may have a really good conversion rate on a health site that talks about many subjects, but that has been my experience.

      Thanks Jennie for sharing.

I personally have also learned about targeted traffic and keywords.

I am wondering if the keywords targeted has anything got to do with the type of traffic being driven to your sites.

Would love to hear from you.

      Thanks again, Jennie

    Uhumm ... Steven,

You know better than to tempt us here in this forum. Lol most of us wil ask you if you have a gun, and won't hesitate shooting ya!

Seriously though, I think we've all done that before with one site or another. Sometimes I think it's mainly due to us losing focus on the project while moving onto another. But when we go back to it, we ofter figure out that we've messed things up, and how we can improve.

To me it's part of the learning process. You know, some heads are thicker than others at times. Mine can be as dense as anyone else.
