outsourcing? Which are the best sites?

Helllo fellow warriors,

I am considering outsourcing a bit and the most talked about outsourcing websites seem to be Elance and Odesk.

Do you guys know any other ones? I am looking to hire a good writer, no 3 bucks article, willing to pay the price.

Also, I have some solid experience ( worked for friends mostly) and a diploma in French to English translation ( I am a native french speaker). I would be delighted to get a few assignments. Any suggestions regarding the best sites to start off? I know Elance offers a few jobs and I have taken and passed their tests, but I want to get at least a few other sites in between.

Look forward to hearing from you very shortly.

Regards,

Yoan

    We use oDesk & Scriptlance..

Scriptlance is generally less expensive, but most of the freelancers we hire from there tend to need daily managing.

oDesk is more expensive, but all of the freelancers there provide updates non-stop --- otherwise they can't get paid.

Both of these sites have great freelancers, but like any hiring, you need to do your due diligence and interview / weed out the less desirables...

do Odesk and scriptlance have arbitrations?
( for instance getAFreelancer has very bad one, Rentacoder has good one )

so if coder not provided what required, money are back to buyer

FYI elance and odesk both have "look over the shoulder" reporting, and are free to post but take 3-10% of the fees. These are good for parttime/fulltime hires , you can do project too.

Scriptlance costs $5 to post each job (ads up)and the UI sucks (even the latest redesign, same functionality). But it's great for small gigs and per project costs. I have gotten some amazing projects done on scriptlance but you do have to know how to interview and wrangle coders well.

Arbitration on all sites is really rather meaningingless, so avoid it. Like saving two people fighting without arms. Really you should strive to never get to that point by doing due diligence, teaser/trial projects to vet them, and milestones where they can never get so far off something you can't pull the plug or see whats going wrong.

I would highly suggest the Warriors for Hire section. Many writers, like myself, post there with reasonable prices, plenty of samples, and get you get the added bonus of seeing testimonials from Warriors you see all over the forum.

Can you translate from English to French? Is it Canadian French or France French? I will be interested to outsource some work.

Wanted to throw a couple of other options into the mix here; FirstPageWebSearch.com and GlobolStaff.com, both offer a mix of different VA's for very affordable rates that do internet promotion, wordpress, web design, programming, SEO, etc. I didn't see these two listed above.

In my experience, Freelancer.com has a TON of people willing to work for you. You'll have to carefully screen them though.

That's right. Poor quality is the worst thing about outsourcing. You would be wise to review the thread called "outsourcing- first lesson learned" before you waste valuable time and money.

I put a suggestion on there which uses Google's algorithm to get you authoritative recommendations and weed out the freelance turkeys. There are a ton of 'em out there, particularly in the writing field.
