If you've made even $1 online ... I'd like to hear from you.

What one thing has been the greatest contributor to your success?

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?

(Obviously, you'll have longer lists for each, but give me your TOP answers for each.)

Can't wait to read your responses!

Haha, it boils down to the cliche - take action. But what the phrase really means is this : put every possible idea/plan into implementation, see if it works or not, if it does not, find a new method/idea/plan, if it does, scale/duplicate. Also, start with what you currently have - it doesn't matter if its $1, $5, $10, $100, or $0. The bottom line is that you have yourself.

One of my biggest challenges was doubting myself and the ideas/plans I learnt about or came up with. Its a lot worse than it seems - disbelief creates inaction. It still is, by the way. But I learnt how to counter the problem, its simply to tell myself that I couldn't be sure it definitely won't work out. There might just be a 1% chance of succeeding, and that's worth it.

Also, do what you love, seriously. If you like dogs, enter the dog training niche. If you don't like writing, don't do article marketing (unless you outsource). Passion makes things easier... it makes work seems like play. Playing everyday, sounds great don't you think?

This is spot on in my experience. Focus on one method/course/etc ignore the next shiny thing, (I have a 'to look at folder' as I do not want to delete but I know reading will just be a distraction)

Target your daily actions, i.e. 1 new post, 5 backlinks etc as fits in with your strategy and keep going, ever day, day in and day out.

I have to admit, the Warrior Forum has been my greatest contributor to success.

I haven't earned a lot, but without it:

    * I would never have tried affiliate marketing
    * I would have not heard of Fiverr
    * Most importantly, I would not have the support and encouragement of such a positive community to spur me on

Always value the things which help you - recognise this and take from it what you can. Like I said, I've not made much but without the people here, I'd have made nothing...

    • Learning SEO
    • Focusing on acquiring targetted traffic
    • Writing hundreds of articles and realising a few just wont cut it
    • A fancy designed site is not the way to go
    • Duplicating my successful model with additional sites
    • Outsourcing my articles

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?
It took me 6 years to start producing a consistent small income. My main challenges where I expected too much in too little time. I would love thinking up new ideas and designing new sites but was not prepared to do the marketing work once I had launched a site.

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?
Make $1 and keep going. Scale it up and make more sites or pages. You wont get rich off 1 site or product. Create as many income streams as you can. Every little task you do does help, no matter how insignificant it may seem. So get those extra backlinks, write that extra article etc and dont skip that step you dont feel like doing in that ebook you're reading.

When you get an idea, dont think, just do it. All you need to make money online is an offer and targetted traffic to that offer, no matter how small you can make money from targetted traffic.

Most of all...never give up if this is your dream, because it's all real and can and will happen for you if you do the work.

I sold a site last year that was making me about $150/mo consistently after almost two years. Not much, but it was something. One of my current sites is for my own physical products and that income is in spurts. i.e., I may make $300 in one week then nothing for a few weeks and so on, but the site is less than a year old and I just recently launched additional monetization.

But my answer, suggestions, advice, Ernie said what I couldn't have said better myself, especially the last point. Never give up. Thanks for supplying my answer Ernie.

This is more than one thing but here goes:

Three things go into online marketing success.

    · A clean looking Website and everything associated with your online presence.
    · Excellent Content and Sales Copy. This can be written, audio or video because those are all derived from words.
    · Driving targeted traffic to your offer.
There are hundreds of subsets to each of the above. There’s article marketing, blogging, Web design, SEO strategies and many more. No one can do them all effectively. So find one you are good at, one you look forward to doing every day.

Then find a proven strategy to get it to market. Rather than spend big money for the latest flashy stuff, find some decent PLR material or join the War Room where you can download all kinds of excellent stuff for free as a member.

Get help where you need it. If you're smart you can trade your skill for one you need.

Stay with it and don't allow yourself to be distracted by every shiny lure jiggled in front of you promising the moon. Good luck.

God Almighty is...along with consistent, focused action

Biggest challenge is cutting through the weeds to get to what's beneficial..as far as educating yourself about online marketing.

Stay focused and keep educating yourself, while taking action. You have to be persistent and make necessary adjustments to your marketing game.

The first time I made money online, it wasn't $1, it was $7.

$7 from 7 clicks on Adsense on my Blogspot blog. In one day.

It happened because I took action, and actually made a blog on something I knew. Looking back, I think my blog was rather crappy, but I didn't know that back then. I didn't even know about indexation and all that.

As for the challenges I face since then, I think it's a propensity to procrastinate. :p

My advice would be to just do it, it doesn't have to be perfect. I see a lot of newbies who come here, read up a lot and either think they know everything, or else over-analyze things.

I've made $6500 till date (18-20 years of age) of which only half is online income. So, IM is not the (only) cash cow!

What one thing has been the greatest contributor to your success?
Pertaining to online income, my successes were purely a result of doing what I really wanted to do. Beginning with helping fellow students with their homework on Cramster.com, then building blogs and websites along with freelance writing. Finally I've started trading shares on the stock markets...let's see where that goes!

Success for me really is knowing what life/existence means (if it does mean anything :confused (Point to note: I neither believe in a God we can please by prayer, nor do I doubt the possibility of existence of a superior controller)

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?
Perhaps the biggest cliche of IM...not taking action. I come up with huge plans, discuss them with my friends, we think of starting a website for that. Then time passes on and self-doubts emerge. So, if you think something is worth doing, give it a good shot before it's too late!

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?
Stop thinking of yourself as a newbie. You know something useful, may not be about IM, but you definitely have something marketable in you! Find that out and just go ahead!

What one thing has been the greatest contributor to your success?
HUSTLE! and testing. Instead of blindly following the advice of others I test it and test my own ideas as well. I listen to everyone, but only follow a few

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?
Finding a way to actually make money that works and can be repeated. Once I found that I was off to the races

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?
LEARN AND STUDY A LOT follow the top bloggers and read their advice, also read through their previous posts. I learned from david risley, yarro starrak, and a variety of other bloggers. I subscribed to about 30 blogs about internet marketing and read the new posts every day for about 6 months until I felt like I already knew everything I was reading.

Its all about taking massive action and being persistent. Don't jump from opportunity to opportunity. Stick with one thing until it is successful. I would tell newbies to avoid signing up for a million different email lists. Find a few people you like and follow their teachings. When you are on everyone's email list you will become overwhelmed with all the information and end up doing nothing.

What one thing has been the greatest contributor to your success?

Persistence - Go for one method and give it your absolute best before trying anything else. I started as an Amazon affiliate and was tempted to give up many times when the sales didn't come in. I kept working though and eventually was rewarded.

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?

Overcoming the desire to restart from scratch every time I felt I could have done something better... Niche selection, keyword research, domain name etc.

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?

You'll never make any money if you jump from one thing to the next. Stick with one method, even just for the sake of learning everything and eventually you WILL be rewarded for it.

If I had to choose the greatest contributor to my success would be the community that I put myself into. I am part of a community of entrepreneurs and leaders that help you to succeed. It is awesome. Send me a message and I will introduce you!

The biggest challenge for me has been time. I am a super busy person and have had a very hard time with my time management skills. There are not enough hours in a day. LOL!

To a newbie, the best advice that I have is to concentrate on 1 or 2 (max) marketing strategies and become an expert at these 1 or 2 things before moving on to other strategies. Most people mess up (I did ) by trying to master all strategies at one time and people become good at all of the strategies but they never master them.

Thanks for the challenging post! I have a good time replying.

Greatest Contributor: Research buying keywords and publishing quality info.

Biggest Challenge: getting sidetracked on new methods/projects. I've stopped this nonsense ... more or less. I still get sidetracked, but am better at focusing on the method that's working. That said, I've learned much from all efforts.

One piece of advice: Experiment and learn. Once you find a model that works and you like, work at it like crazy.

Develop a SYSTEM that works. Then do it over and over and over again.

Document what you do in a 1-2-3 style checklist, and when you can't get all the work done anymore find some people to help you full time (look in the Philippines)...

Definitely build up a list of buyers, then do whatever you can to add value to their lives

Agreed. The more you can simplify the process and break it down into steps that anyone can follow, the easier it'll be to ramp up your success swiftly.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that making money on the internet needs to be complicated in order to be successful. Instead, they should be striving for the opposite. The more you can simplify things, the easier and faster you'll be able to make money with it.

I like your style of questions and finding this forum is certainly a huge step in the right direction.

(i)Developing my own e-books was the single biggest thing that made a big difference and I remember over a three day period last August when one of the top webmasters in my niche promoted my product and I made over $900 in clickbank sales.

(ii)Getting to page one on Google for my chosen keywords on all of my sites and I still use the free keyword tool, before deciding on a domain name and chosen keywords in my title tags.

(ii)Accept that you will make mistakes and if I look at what I was doing two years ago compared to now it's cringeworthy. Put all of your efforts in to fidning a formula whch suits you and keep doing the things that bring you traffic and sales and forget the things that cause you pain and problems.

The things that make me money -

    ~ My own products
    ~ affiliate products
    ~ Ebay
    ~ Fiverr

What one thing has been the greatest contributor to your success?

I would have to say, is knowing people in high places, find people that have already done this before and become their friend. Everyone started out some where and most of the people I know, were more than happy to help me out, in any way they could.

What one thing has been your biggest challenge to achieving success?

I guess this would have to be, being self motivated, to get up every morning, study trends, do the work of an internet marketer. No one is going to be there to hold your hand, you have to do it yourself. It not only takes time but also knowledge, and Patience.

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?

I would have to say, don't buy up every ebook you can to try and learn internet marketing, you don't have to join some crazy priced product that will show you how to make money online. I tell you what go ahead and spend what money you were on those silly products and just buy a membership here. It last you a life time and this is a great place to get started. If you can't find out how to make money online on this forum then you need to find a different, Career, and yes internet marketing is a full time career. It takes hard work, and money to get started online. A lot of those people trying to make money will tell you oh you don't need that much which is true but you do need some. I would start out with 100 dollars, do affiliate marketing. do keyword research, do market research see what people want, and then buy a keywordrich domain, set up a wordpress blog free plugins, go find an affiliate program, set up the blog with pics, reviews, and links. Then find a Warrior for hire on here and do article marketing. There are some great services on here that will do all of the above for you, for less than you will find on the net. I hope this has helped and have a nice day.

    Hey Mary,

    Here is my 2c.

    1. Greatest contributorto success: Not giving up.

    2. Biggest challenge: Being stoney broke when I started. This meant that I could not invest in any of the tools I really needed and had to find free tools and do everything for myself without outsourcing. Upside of this is that it was good training, though. I can do almost everything for myself and I am an expert on the best freebies - where to find 'em and how to use 'em.

    3. Start list building on day 1..... I mean DAY 1. That's my advice.

Knowing what's bull**** and what isn't, and being able to balance the consumption of information with output.

To put it simply, your bull**** filter needs to be fined tuned in this business, don't EVER pull the trigger on something without research. I've been able to have good success while buying VERY FEW products at all, because I put a little time into my research and found out more information or viable free alternatives.

Secondly, you need to be able to balance the consumption of info with your desire to act. Don't sit back and read forever: TAKE ACTION. But you also don't want to dive in without knowing the rules to the game first: it would be like taking a test without studying.

See above: learn from REPUTABLE sources, nothing is easy or overnight, but don't get bogged down in countless PDFs, decide what works for you and put yourself out there, the investment in money is usually minimal, just be careful you aren't wasting your time.

Having Patience & Focus. You must have enough patience and be steady on your focus. For example it may happen you worked on something for 3 months and found that its worthless, accept it, make a new plan, take the next step. Or find a way to make the failure work, it's possible in many cases.

Not giving up. Somedays I want to just grab the classifieds and get what I hope is a secure steady job. But knowing I'm not in control of my dreams, many funded by money alone, keeps me a way from those classifieds and on to find innovactive ways to make this IM thing work.

What one piece of advice would you give a newbie?

Stick with it. Plan...take that plan and add some action. Don't get too caught up with learning all you can without applying it. Seek out mentors, don't ask for a hand out, but don't think that there aren't people actually willing to help, just be sure to approach them correctly.

I wish you all the best in your current and future ventures. I almost forgot. This forum is a great asset to information, mentors, joint ventures, products, services, and so much more. Take advantage of all it has to offer!
