What recent trick / tactic has worked to increase your websites traffic? - This is mine

The internet is changing every day and there are always new tricks and tactics that you can use to generate traffic to your website. I found a great new tactic that has worked great for me, I will share mine and I hope you will share yours!

My NEW Tactic

I have found that using facebook as my page (this is a new option) works great. I click use facebook as "page name" and then participate in discussions on other related pages. This has brought a lot of traffic to my facebook page and new facebook likes. I am leveraging this explosion in likes and fans to drive new traffic to my website by posting links to my website on my facebook page.

So... what is your new tactic?

    Hi Jeremy,

Your tactic is def something I have to try. Thanks for sharing it.

As far as my traffic is concerned, it's mostly from plain ol' SEO. Of course there are spikes when I make a new post - traffic coming mainly from social bookmarking and feed readers. Sharing, Liking, Tweeting your links does help, even if not for today's traffic, for tomorrow's SEO. I've noticed that some of my posts with good social presence (likes, tweets, diggs, etc) seem to rank really well in the search engines. I'm not talking backlinks. I've had some posts with more backlinks than these posts that aren't doing so well in the SERPs.

Well, SEO is a game, and a pretty mischievous one at that.

Try getting your Facebook link to go viral Create a content locker in which the visitor must "Like" your page in order to continue.

People on facebook will see the like and go to your site, and "like" it. Viral!

That's easier said than done. You need a really eye-catching title to get this working. It's no wonder those apps with links that say 'OMG! This girl killed herself because her dad uploaded this video' go almost always VIRAL. But normal blog titles or your regular service websites just won't do. There's more chance you'll only scare away your visitors/readers.

That is true, but if you know your visitors and what they like than you can incorporate that into the title.

Yes there are definitely ways to increase the LIKE ratio of visitors, and creating a custom landing page is a good way to do it.

This is a good page to visit that is updated with a current guide (the older guides will lead you astray as FB has changed the process a number of times within the last few months) MagicEdit - Create a Custom Facebook Landing Page

If anyone is going to do this I would suggest taking advantage of google and twitter trends. Pay close attention to the trends each day, if something comes up that you think can be tied into your content...jump on it as fast as possible, optimize it for that keyword, and lock it. Easiest way to send something viral.

Actually that is a very good trick I used when I was just posting to a general blog. I would watch google trends, hop on some new things, write a quick post about it and keyword optimize it and sometimes I would get a lot of traffic.

It helps if you have a blog with decent PR and your new post will be indexed quickly. I used to get a nice spike in traffic and earnings the odd time.

Hey Jeremy! So are you saying you made a Facebook page for whatever niche you are promoting and than added a bunch of people or how does that work? (I am no Facebook genius)

My tactics is at twitter. Twitter helps me lot gain massive traffic just by tweets. Tweets is not complicated as facebook. I am not saying that i don't like facebook, I am just used to twitter.

Constant and consistent content, interaction with my market and busting my butt...that's what has led to a double digit % traffic growth every month for the last year and a half for us...

Have noticed what Jou mentioned, that building relationships on social networks like Twitter where posts including your link are re-tweeted seem to help in SEO.

Yes, say I have a site about easy weight loss tips, I make a FB page about this and then use FB AS THIS PAGE, I like and comment in related pages so I am attracting their members to like my page. It is a good way to increase the likes on your page, and by posting links to your website to your FB page you also increase traffic there.

Yes JBSMITH I definitely agree with JOU. I interact with my FB page and post things that are funny, entertaining, and interested related to the pages niche. These all get lots of likes and comments, and the more people like and comment the more likely your NEXT page update will appear in their FB stream!

Then when I post a link to an interesting post on my blog I get a lot of likes and comments and shares as well!

My new tactic is SEO I suppose. I just recently started getting the hang of it and my main site is currently bouncing around positions on the first page for it's main keyword.
The facebook page idea is something that I haven't tried yet but will definitely be doing in the future.
