Dear god, I have truly seen it all now.

I guess the real question is, would you buy from him? Would newbies? lol....just wow.

Just on sheer 'Rebecca Black' type factor this will likely get shared all over the internet.

My psychic powers tell me that this site is owned and operated by someone else, and "Willyam" is an actor.

Wait, wait, I'm getting something else... this someone else is making his money at least in part by selling the email addresses of people interested in making money online.

And here! The spirits have more to tell me! They have a special message from the actual owner of the site, which they can give me telepathically!

      He says...

      He says...

      Wait for it...

        Exactly Caliban.

Personally i think he is just "copying" the Rich Jerk business model.

I suppose that that guy is just an hired actor. This is viral marketing "this is not real" and it is supposed to be comedy.

In this world working hard and having skills is not enough you also have to entertain that is why people like lady gaga are famous.

That video is suppose to piff you off and made you think if this "idiot" can make money so do i!.

"Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it... because, of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled." - Cutter, The Prestige

Have you ever noticed how many top copywriters and marketers are magicians?

People look at this page and say "that is so fake." They tell their friends "that is so fake." They make a big deal about it. They complain all over the place about how fake it is.

And in the back of their heads, they think "but what if...?"

          They want to believe.

And even while they say "it's fake, it's fake, it's fake" all over the place, that want is driving them closer and closer to opting in.

They'll never tell their friends, of course. But they'll ultimately sneak back to that page, opt into the list, and hurriedly clear their browser history so nobody in the house can trace them.

          They want to be fooled.

Which isn't really the case. They don't actually want to be fooled.

They want it to be true.

They want the magic to be real.

And you don't have to say it out loud, if you don't want to. But how many of you out there are saying "fake, scam, what kind of idiot falls for this" - and you're on that list?

I'm on his list because I want to see where he's taking it, not because I'm buying what he's selling, which so far is nothing. Having said that, I don't know that he's scamming anybody. His method to date is unorthodox for sure, but that doesn't mean the info he delivers won't be legit....assuming he ever does follow through.

But you're also not yelling "fake, scam" either.

Having said that, I don't know that he's scamming anybody.
Probably not. It's so much easier to make money WITHOUT a scam, if only because you don't need an escape plan... I just marvel at the way so many people STILL think scams are the way to go.

I honestly believe some people are just inherently attracted to being on the wrong side of the law. They don't actually do nasty things because it's better, but because that's who they are.

LOL whether its fake or not, its hilarious! I like the part where he says :

Alright, so I'm gonna give back and I will train you personally on how to make some money... but no, not those ultra-personal kind, *pretends to be calling you and telling you to do stuff*. Ya see, I'm too busy making money! Watch this. *leans back on his jaccuzzi, stare into space, do practically nothing for 5 seconds* , then "Look, I just made some money!"

    All speech in cowboy accent.

I neither opted in nor contributed to his viral marketing process though.

This is true, there are definitely some savvy marketers behind the entire process. He's probably nothing more than a paid actor spitting out a script. Whether people are actually going to like and trust this persona is a different story though - it may go viral because it's insanely hilarious, but I wonder if his list is going to be responsive.

I find it ironic that there's a chainsaw buzzing constantly in the background - it makes me think I'm on the set of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre or some B-grade horror movie....I was half expecting some psycho to jump on camera with a chainsaw.

When you say a television commercial, where did you see it? You can get very cheap television ads these days on a lot of the cable channels using Google Tv Ads.

I think it was during prime time on the Cartoon Network, during Family Guy.

I had forgotten about Google TV Ads. As cheap as they may be though, I still bet he paid several hundred dollars to run the ad, which is a bit of a head scratcher.

For those who didn't pay attention, he says he will be teaching offline marketing. I signed up to his list when I saw the ad several days ago just to see what he's doing, but he hasn't followed up yet.

Wow! Haha! Well, I guess whoever is behind this must be making some kind of money, or they had some kind of money. The site looks pretty neat.

I reckon it's a viral marketing ploy of some sort of course. I wouldn't judge a book by it's cover though, just because there is a humorous element doesn't mean he has nothing valuable to teach.

I would be careful about it though.

You know what I find funny and interesting - 2 opt in boxes on the page almost side by side. Wondering which form more people use to add their information.

Signup is double optin, and kicks you back to the main page, not a "thank you" page.

An email does zip back, but not much information other than "help other businesses" which is mentioned in the video on the main squeeze page as well - so I'm guessing offline marketing.

This approach has me thinking though. Take an ordinary video of yourself pitching your service on your squeeze page. Make sure the lighting sucks a bit and you do it with a lot of umms and no editing.

Then make sure your squeeze page looks super sexy and your call to action is strong. Folks see how ****ty your video is but how great your site is then they will know you have been making cash. So that may get them to check it out more so because if you can do it then they know they will be able to also.

lol. So, essentially set yourself up to look like as much of a dumbass as this guy and people will undoubtedly join on that old premise "if he can do it, I can do it"

I think that is precisely the entire motivation behind the guy in the video, or the guy behind the guy in the video.

Actually, I think it has a lot going for it which many marketers seem to never factor in. Entertainment for one, just entertaining people while they learn may logically teach them more. Interesting concept no?

A clever bit of manipulative marketing here.

Controversial marketing which riles you up in one form or another tends to do well, as opposed to a bland, anodyne and overly slick "packaged" production that offends no one and doesn't push any emotional buttons.

There are various ways that this can be done, and this one takes the tack of "if a country bumpkin that doesn't even seem computer literate can be successful at internet marketing, then you can do it too". If someone who hasn't had any success in internet marketing comes across this page, I'd say chances are high they'll sign up in a heartbeat just to figure out what "secrets" this bumpkin has to share. It's meant to provoke you into opting in, and I have no doubt at all that the opt-in rate on this page is sky high.

Maybe. And yes we are talking about this, so there is a buzz, however...

Are there really people who will see that and actually think... If he can do it, so can I?

I feel that this will be the first impression that many will get from watching the short video, but at the same time the gnawing curiosity that it invokes will make it hard for them to resist signing up. After all, he isn't asking for any money and there isn't any purchase required, and many will want to opt in just to be able to know about what's being offered.

Yes, I agree. I think the thought process behind the whole thing is actually very clever.

Whether or not it's going to be profitable is a whole different issue. But, the fact that we are sitting here spending part of our day talking about and looking over his site, videos, and facebook page certainly does tell you something.

Frank Kern is doing this...but not in this extreme level though. But if you've seen Frank speak, you know what I'm saying.
I don't know why, but I was thinking Frank Kern the whole time I watched.

Hilarious! There are a lot of things about this that are good. If nothing else it is something that gets passed around (just like what is happening on this very thread).

Larry the Cable Guy (fake persona) makes a kajillion dollars doing this kind of stuff.

Who signed up for this??? LOL

Mattlaclear is right... this is probably converting well. You'd be surprised how many people will fall for this (reminds me of the discussion a few days back, biz op seekers vs IM'ers).

I'm getting on his list to see his promo lol... don't judge me

That is kinda stooopid, but kinda smart, y'all here?

This is the kind of thing that goes viral (and judging by the FB Likes, it is) - it'll drive a lot of traffic to his page, but I would never give him my email address -- and I certainly I couldn't imagine actually buying anything from him! I wonder how what his conversion rate is...

Love the hair and Billy-Bob teeth... (well, in a "that thar's dun stoooopid" sort of way) LOL

I've seen his gigs on Fiverr... he'll promote your site or product in a video. If I remember right, he has a few other characters as well.

LOL. Great share, Black Hat Cat It is funny, and I agree that the guy in the video is almost certainly a paid actor.

That is definitely a unique marketing tactic, and I would venture to say, an effective one too. Say what you will about the character, how real and legit this seems, but this undoubtedly is getting/will get attention. I mean there is a thread dedicated to it here on WF. LOL. It reminds me of all of those commercials on tv that are so stupid/annoying that you somehow can't get them out of your head even if you can't stand them. Also, add to the mix that humor is a universal rallying point, especially at a time when so many are suffering from economic problems. Add to that a 'make money online' model and you have a potential winner. I am not saying I believe that this is really a serious attempt at marketing to people wanting to earn online...but it could be. Like others said here, as outlandish as it is, it does induce a gnawing curiosity, and people might opt-in just for that one factor. Hey, I mean, if anyone were really reluctant to give out their real primary e-mail address, they could always start a random gmail or other account and use it for the more potentially spammy messages.

You know, he's weird and crazy. However, I actually watched the entire video. Before this video, I had NEVER watched an entire video from an Internet Marketer, I just find them boring and uninteresting myself.

Just because he's using a kooky unorthodox marketing method, doesn't mean there's a scam involved. It is a well done campaign. Called buzz marketing and these people have created buzz. I told another forum about it, and they told someone and so on and so on.

I'm thinking also of getting on the list just to see where it goes. I like kooky stuff, so I'm willing to listen to the spiel. He made me laugh and like someone else above, I never watch marketing videos and I watched this one.
