If I have to Sell My Oldest website

Hi Warriors ,

I have a website which I am running since 2005 and earned decent money from it. Now i have to sell this website as I have no time to maintain it or take to the next level.

My question is that If I have to sell this website , I just give access to my hosting and cp account to buyer as I don't know how to transfer the website and domain. I just don't need this hosting and domain account anymore so there is no point to transfer the same ( I think). What's the your opinion about it.

    Yes, if you are using only one website under this hosting account then you can give complete details to the buyer and he will be happy. But, also most of the hosts gives free transfer service. So, there is no problem at all..

        If you have no need for your hosting then it may be a good idea to tarnsfer it with the site. That way it is a very easy transfer.

        You just need to speak with your hosting company to ensure you can do that and the exact process.

        If you intend to drop the hosting anyway once the sale is made, you could also offer say 3 months free hosting (or even 1 month) to give your buyer time to transfer the website themselves. Just make sure you set a clear deadline for transfer/hosting cancellation with the buyer.

        If your site has a reasonable value then offer 1 years free hosting as a BIN bonus

        That way you will cover a numbers of different buyer situations and give your site wider appeal.

    I would suggest that you complete a full transfer. The reason being, if the new buyer starts to use your site and domain for illegal activities (e.g. spamming, pirate downloads), you will be held liable.

    It is not difficult to transfer the files, really. You could even hire someone on Fiverr to do this as long as you give him/her access to your hosting and domain account.
