Pup up/under/.... or pop...?

I have a static HTML website with 10 pages of articles. The home page looks pretty much like a squeeze page with an opt-in form placed around the bottom. And now I want to capture lead from the traffic that arrive to read the articles (obviously using pop up/under/.... or pop... ) but I was not sure which one to choose and I want your suggestions on this.

Plus, what software or script do you suggest me to use for this purpose?

Thanks!

  • without a doubt popupdomination. Kinda expensive but I like it.

Why is that "obvious" to you, ZealZeal?

People's perceptions vary: I also have many article-laden sites whose visitors I try to capture as opt-ins, but to me it's "obvious" not to do so with a pop-up.

  • There are lots of people who will disagree with having a pop up on your site. Lets face it they are annoying, but the number prove they help. with pud its cool cuz it looks good. I also find it easy to style the css. you can also set how many times it comes up and stuff like that.

What the number often proves is that many people assume "they must help", without actually testing for themselves.

It becomes self-fulfilling. "Everyone uses them because everyone else uses them".

I know people who have done their own extensive, accurate testing (allowing for all the visitors who would have returned but don't, once they see the pop-up) and have abandoned pop-ups as a result. But I'll say no more than that, because long experience has taught me that it isn't possible to dissuade from using them people to whom it's already "obvious" before testing.
