What power does the 'Facebook Note' has in regards to ranking high on Google. I search for "ways of raising start-up capital to fund a business" and a Facebook note appeared among some others on the first page of Google

It's very powerful. Google now indexes content from Facebook Fan pages on their search engine. This includes notes, status updates, and videos. You definitely want to take advantage of that.

You can even build anchor text backlinks to your Facebook content for your desired keywords. That will help push it up even higher

Google should not be indexing Facebook content in the first place because Facebook is a private network and you must be signed in to view anything on the site. It's the same with sites like MyLife or BeenVerified.

Google needs to get rid of these sites from their index because it's quite obvious they're showing the search engines a different page than they show to actual visitors.

This "cloaking" technique was banned years ago by Google so it's a shame they're allowing these large private networks to pull a tactic that got many a black hat SEOs permanently sandboxed for good reason.

If somebody wants to search for something on Facebook, go to Facebook and do the search. As far as I'm concerned, Facebook users can stay on Facebook. It's the same thing AOL was over a decade ago, a private network.

If you have to join to view content, it shouldn't be in Google. They finally got rid of Experts-Exchange links, DaniWeb links, etc... Time for Google to man up and follow their own rules.

You have to make sure its real. i.e. not logged in to google, or using scroogle to see results. Results are now tailored for the individual, which is going to cause headaches in the SEO field.
