Seeking Internet Advice

I was referred to this forum by a technology friend whose opinion I very much respect. They said there are some seasoned internet people on here.

I am a sole proprietor that provides nutrition consulting and products (e.g. I am also a nutrition reseller) and wish to expand from person-to-person relational marketing with a web presence to actually accomplishing some level of internet marketing on the web.

Recently I went to a storesonline seminar and they assured me they could take care of everything and had the tools for me to get to where I need to go. I did sign up for the $149 training seminar but haven't gone to that yet. I've read some reviews since then.

Obviously, I could use some experienced direction and advice from people that know what is going on in this industry.

My website is Basic Healthy Life. Perhaps you could take a look at it and offer me some good advice and all-in-one type services that could move me from a static information website with zero internet sales to where I need to go in an affordable way? I would appreciate that very much.

    Hi age of knowledge, this is a huge question to answer so I will start off with just a couple of things.

    I have just visited basichealthylife.com and would humbly suggest that a complete overhaul is needed. It is a very difficult site to read with no clear message or call to action.

    If you want some one one to build your site for you then you can get some great people at good prices at odesk.com

    Or you could use a wordpress template. Wordpress is a non-techy platform that many people use to create a website. (go to youtube and search for wordpress to find out more.)

    If you are wanting to sell direct online then there are a lot of shopping carts
    that you can use for free. such as WordPress Ecommerce a WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin this is a word press plugin that you can connect with your pay pal account etc.

    I know this is brief but that should be enough to get your brain juices flowing for now.

      I think your site is very clean and has all the info you need there, but it just does not fit into any of the usual design schemes that have been proven to work. I think you should get a web design pro to redo it for you. Even if you aren't interested in retail sales, you should at least have a website that is comparable to other sites in your industry. Search WF or Odesk or CL in order to find a web designer or firm that knows what they're doing. After your site is built, then you can optimise it for the search engines etc.

    The site looks pretty good in my opinion. I would try to clean it up a little. Make sure the points that you want visitors to see are clearly marked!

    The site does need some work done to it to bring it up to current industry standards. If you want to go the Wordpress way I can offer you free consultation on Skype and help you redesign it.
