What is the difference between spam and scam?

Spam is email that is unrequested or unwanted and can often introduce a scam.

A scam is when someone tries to cheat you out of your money by unethical means, like trying to fool you into sending them a large sum of money and then giving you very little or nothing in return.

    Good luck!

Not really. Companies can spam you with offers that are real and no 'scams'. But the emails you receive are still unwanted and unrequested.

You're right Elion. There are many companies that are unrelenting spammers but their offers are real and often good. They just like to send tons of emails. Vistaprint comes to mind. Not a day goes by that I don't receive an offer from Vistaprint and I have actually used their service which is good, but enough with the emails already!

I think, already mentioned above what is the difference. However, I often identify spam and scams that run together. Spam is the instrument, while the scam is the goal. Maybe I was wrong.

The one thing that they have in common is you don't want to be spammed or scammed!

If you subscribed, it's not spam. Spam is unsolicted email.

    Or did I miss something?

I've opted in to many lists that spammed me relentlessly. I ended up unsubscribing. I guess while I was subscribed, it was not technically spam since I did opt-in, but the nature of the offers presented still makes these communications rather spammy which is why eventually, I chose to opt-out.

Well there is a huge difference in my point of view-

Spamming is when you are just basically sending your desired message to people who do not want your message, and sending it in a great volume! And whatever your sending could contain your product link which could be a legit product

Scamming is when your product is not legit and it basically tricks people into thinking its something when its not!

    Hope this helps clarify
