I give away an unadvertised bonus on my thankyou page. After they sign up, they are taken to a thankyou page where they are told that if they click the link in the confirmation message they will also receive a second product.

    That helps a lot.

FIRST: Test Email deliverability of your software. Improve it. (At this stage, you can make sure email actually delivering to your subscriber inboxes) Whether they confirm or not is another issue.

SECOND: Offer valuable bonuses. As Charlie said surprise with a new bonus. I am not sure of your newsletter niche, but give something nice.

THIRD: Try your subcription/confirmation process by yourself using different free email accounts and see if you are receiving any errors or problems.

I really to do not know to offer my list at the moment as I have no ebook of my own. I have tried to optin by myself and it works perfectly well for me but for some reason people don't seem to be ready to confirm which I find annoying.

If your thank you page takes them to the info they signed up for, they really have no reason to confirm their subscription.

My thank you page formerly took subscribers to a download page for a free ebook, and unconfirmed rate was very high. Then I changed the thank you page to a page that tells them they'll need to confirm their subscription and then will be taken to the download link. That drastically reduced unconfirmed subscribers.

I agree with Ruth and experienced the same thing.

Set up your own confirmation page that subscribers are taken too when they initially sign in. Tell them to watch their inbox for the confirmation email and encourage them to click to confirm.

Also don't waste the opportunity to offer a complimenting product or affiliate product on this page.

Simply don't let them have the product until they confirm.

            Be successful,

            Jeff.

          Download a free pdf creator.
Write a 5 - 7 page information related to your niche.
Create a pdf report from it.
Create 4 - 8 pdfs like this and load them one to go on alternate day.

Tell your subscrbers CLEARLY that they need to click on a link in the email. To tell you the truth, still most people don't know that they have to confirm their subscriptions. So keep a detailed instructions on how to confirm on thank you pae. Mostly this might be the reason too.

I'm thinking of using a more aggressive approach.

Right now I'm at about 75% confirmed opt-in, which is supposed to be the industry standard according to Aweber. But we know people are beating this standard because not everyone will achieve 75% opt-in, most will do worse than this.

Offer a bonus, but really sell it on the Confirmation Page, complete with headlines and bullets. Make it time-limited or limited in quantity.

Offer full instructions and a video on how to opt in.

The idea is to 'sell' your bonus and provide all the information on how to opt in.

Once your subscribers have confirmed, sell your main product hard on the Download Page to recoup your ad costs. This will compensate for having no One-Time Offer.

I am at around 70+ percent.
With the nature of my membership site, I simply drill it into
their heads that they need to click on the confirmation link
or I will not be able to send them notification
when I add new products to their members areas.

I do like the bonus product idea.
I will have to give that a lot more thought.

Are you using a paid auto responder? If you are using a free auto responder chances are the subscribers are not receiving your email. Even some of the paid auto responders can't deliver all your messages.

People send to sign up with me through a squeeze page offering one product when it comes to confirming they are informed that the will have access to my vault which has a large collection of unadvertised bonuses and many love the thought of reading back ezines of mine. I currently have a 92% sign up rate but at the moment a lot comes from jvs were it tends to be higher than normal anyway.

You need to specifically tell them they need to confirm...
Trust me...a friend of mine and a copywriter Judy Kettenhofen told me one day to change my thank you page to specifically tell them they needed to go check their email and click the confirm link...and an amazing thing happened...They did...LOL

      Thanks, Don.

That was for fruitfulproducts, wasn't it?

You weren't offering anything but a sign up, if I recall correctly.

Got north of 90% confirms, I think you said, when I asked.

Yah, you have to tell them ... but it's important how you tell them, plus some additional secret sauce I have up my sleeve.

(So slick you don't even recognize it as a "pattern", LOL.)

I didn't know there was an industry stat on confirms, I asked Ritz if he had one and I thought he was gonna get one for me -- guess that dropped through the cracks...

I also inform them on the thank you page that they need to confirm to get to their product.

It helps get more confirmations most definitely. I think their is a lot of useful information in this thread. Thank you....everyone.
