Help with Using MailChimp

INTERNET MARKETING

I have searched the forum, but didn't find an answer
I am currently using Mail chimp to build a list on my website.

I have a report I want to give out as a freebie but I don't know how to add this through mailchimp.

Any ideas?

MailChimp doesn't allow affiliate marketing, or indeed much of any marketing at all.

If you don't believe me, contact their support department and see whether you don't end up with a deleted account once you explain what you're doing.

Cdark,

Thanks again. I know the technicalities. I'm working with offline clients and will need to know how to use Mailchimp for them... not everyone is a "marketer" you know. There are other reaons to use Mailchimp.

Please if anyone can help, I'll appreciate it

Well, giving away a free report to build your list has gotten people chucked off their service in the past.

So LIKE I SAID IN THE FIRST POST I MADE HERE...

Talk to their support department.

Because they are the ONLY people who can give you advice that isn't likely to get you kicked off their service. Nobody out here has had reliable results with that.

Contrary to what is said here, you can do fine with marketing on MailChimp if you keep within their terms, i.e. you're fine if you market your own products and you can even promote other companies products depending on how you do it as well. Most affiliate marketing doesn't really fit their bill, so the average IM'er might not like MailChimp. (I have clients who are making plenty money marketing via MailChimp campaigns though).

They are more strict than others, they monitor list performance closer than most other services. It's a trade off as they have arguably the best features in terms of their pricing (their free plan is miles better than some paid plans I've had), they even let you import users. That kinda stuff only works if you can keep out most of the emails that get low response rates and are low value.

If you're operating in a market that attracts complaints easily, Mailchimp is not a good choice. For people in other niches, MailChimp imo is the best out there.

RE: how to set up downloads

You're looking for the final welcome email configuration where you can add links to whatever download/report you want to deliver (I'd post a link but I'm not allowed). It's the email subscribers get once they confirm their subscription. You also might want to research their merge tags if you need more advanced options.

Glad I read your post Peter as I recently set up my lists with Mailchimp. I'm not directing people to affiliate links in general and my list is only for people who want to get it, and not those who are ever likely to complain.

As for setting up a list, I remember going through the same pain at the start.

This is how you do it:

1. set up a list and give it a name

2. go to "lists" (at the top) and now find your list there

3. go to the option FORMS from your list

4. there are 2 boxes, you'll need "form and email designer"

5. from the drop down in the left box, find your final confirmation email and edit that very email, adding a link to a download for your free report

You should be fine.

  A quick play with the search function will show you posts by some Warriors who've lost their lists and their accounts there without understanding what (if anything) they'd "done wrong".
