Problems starting website

Hi,

I would like to host a website so I can promote products and gain a commission.
And maybe later I sel the products just themselves on my site.
And I also would like to update my site every day (if necessary).
But once I want to make a website with Godaddy I get on the shopping cart a large sum?
I have also spoken to other people who also have started a site sides that they do not so much needs to pay for their website.

I have the list of Godaddy products:

Protected Registration Package: $ 24.90
Complete Email Package: $ 71.23
Hosting - Web - Deluxe - Linux - EU Region 1: $83.59
Standard (Turbo) SSL (1 Year) (annual: $ 49.81

Order total: $ 242.59!!!

But is all this really necessary? I would like to keep as cheaply as possible.
What do you think do I really need these products??

Thanks,

Regards Yusuf.

If all you want to do at first is to promote affiliate products you don't need all the extras. Godaddy is famous for sticking stuff in your path on the way to checkout. People unfamiliar with the process sometimes assume they need everything and end up paying for a bunch of tools they don't need.

If you need hosting there are many less expensive options as well. I use godaddy only for domain registration. If moving my domains were easier I'd completely stop using godaddy. Good luck.

All you need is a domain name and hosting. All of that other stuff from Godaddy is not needed. You will need to build a website, and if you don't know how, I would look into getting Wordpress. For hosting I would check out Hostgator. They have good support and can help you with getting Wordpress up and running.

Also read through the forum here. You can learn a lot and probably find out everything you need to get your site up and running.

Yea, you should be able to get started for less than $20. You don't need all of that, just basic hosting and a domain name. You can always add more later (they will still take your money!).

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

    No.

Godaddy just love to upsell you on everything. Just get the basic domain package and you are good to go.

      Forget Godaddy.

Go to Namecheap.com and register your domain name (approx $10) then go to Hostgator and buy hosting.

  • ALL hosts offer those extras on your account, not just Godaddy. That's how they ALL make their real money. They offer you cheap domains in hopes that you will upgrade or add things later.

But no, you don't need all those extras. All you need is a domain name and a host at the moment.

For now, you probably don't need a 'Deluxe' or 'Premium' hosting account, either. Just get a cheaper one (at a reputable host), and you can always upgrade later if necessary. All they will charge you is the difference in price.
