Do you use a contract with your offline clients?

Do you use a contract with your offline clients? Or in what situations do you or do you not use a contract?

I have a real estate report that I market in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.
Month-to-month. No contract. Cancel at any time.

My rental websites are Month-to-month. No contract. Cancel at any time.

My hosting is Month-to-month. No contract. Cancel at any time.

My AWeber account is Month-to-month. No contract. Cancel at any time.

My reseller hosting account is, you guessed it, Month-to-month. No contract. Cancel at any time.

I'm just asking for some other ideas.

For my SEO clients, no I dont.

Why? Because if I'm not getting results I dont deserve the contract.

As it turns out clients very rarely leave, and stay for years, some are 4 & 5 years now, hows that for retention

It depends on the service really.

With my SEO if it's for a local company I charge them a startup fee and then a month to month results basis. (High Google Place Rankings allow for a pretty hefty startup fee.)

If it is email I do it slightly different. I charge by the email, but I lock in a full month's worth of emails. Some clients want one email a week.....some clients want a couple a week. Since I have this all outsourced to trusted article writers it makes it a lot easier if i just book them with the entire months worth of emails.
(I don't lock them into anything long.)

I really don't like recurring contracts. If you're good you don't need to worry about it.

Nobody wants to have to go through court to get money out of a bad contract later anyways....and typically you are offering your services to businesses and with the way the commercial debt collection laws are written it's really time consuming and just a plain pain in the ass to ever get your money from them.

I personally don't use them very often....Some may do otherwise.
