I trying to follow this lame Wordpress tutorial and it says:
When signed in, make your way to Appearance > Themes to browse the collection of WordPress themes from your dashboard.

Well I've looked all over for the Appearance link to no avail. This was after I logged in.

  • You will normally be logged in as Admin to have access to the settings. Usually Appearances is along the left side of the screen, you host might have preconfigured things so you just see an icon for it.

    • What do you see on your left when you log in?

Try this after you log in go to your site and there should be a gray bar across the top if you are using a recent version of WP. Click on appearance there.

If you have not uploaded any themes you will only see the default theme twenty ten there. You can click on the install tab to search for themes.
  • Do you know what version of WordPress you are using?

I just checked one of my blogs running 3.1 and the Appearance link is about half way down in the left hand menu. When you click on it a menu opens with "Themes" as one of the options.
  • In Wordpress 3.1.2 the Appearances Tab is along the left side column. Just click on that and you will get a menu with Themes in it.

    • Here's a screen shot of the dashboard from one of my blogs:

Note the word Appearance about halfway down on the left-hand side. I already clicked on it, so the list of terms underneath will appear when you do so.

Also check out the tab "Install themes" at the top, to the right of "Manage Themes" - that's where you can get lots of themes and upload them directly from inside your dashboard.

      Good luck.

  • And sometimes it looks like this. Notice only icons on the left side

  • Are you using wordpress.com or Wordpress installed on your own site?
