Best day for a product launch?

During the past 20 years, I have always seen research pointing to...

1. Wednesday
2. Thursday
3. Friday

These are the most quoted days for online marketing as well as offline direct marketing. It also varies depending on the expert or authority being quoted.

Based on my personal experience and research, it's really never been that big of an issue. On the contrary, I have found that it's more important to look at what is taking place on the date you wish to launch.

Primarily, you should ask the question... "Are there any major "guru" launches occuring on the day I want to launch?"

According to Jeff Walker the best day of the week is Tuesday. Monday is too soon after the weekend and people are still getting settled in to work. Wednesday and after is getting too close to the next weekend and you won't be able to maintain the momentum very well through the weekend.

Remember, the first few days after the actual launch day are just as, if not more, important than the launch day itself. In a lot of launches you will make more sales over the next few days than you will on the launch day - so keep that in mind and schedule things accordingly.

I think it does depend on the behavior of the market you are targeting as well.

I have heard that Tuesday is the best day as well. This comes from the entertainment industry. Typically new albums and movies are released on Tuesdays. I assume that they have done the due diligence to know that statistically Tuesday is the best. Good luck on the launch

I think it depends on your niche. For example I promote coupon codes to list of women interested in high heels. Monday's are absolutely terrible, but Wed, Thur, and Fri are always great. I mix it up. Thought about emailing them daily, but don't want to push my luck.

As for me personally? I prefer for products targeted towards me and my tastes to launch on Thursday's. The day is just boring if you ask me, so I love to see a new promotion for something I need (or may not know I need) that day.

I think it's more important for the time of the month as opposed to what day it is. I try to launch a new product near the end of the month in anticipation of people who still work for employers and receive a monthly wage. I'm not sure about the States, but in the UK most people who are on monthly wages get paid between the 21 - 28th of the month and I usually base my launch around this time to try and maximize my selling potential.

1) Launch Tuesday (anytime as WF is global)
2) Bump Thursday if off 3rd page & not selling
3) Last Bump Saturday if not selling
4) Rebump every 10 days if selling well (from profit!)
4) Repeat every week with multiple WSO's until you hit gold!

Launched at various times and got massively varied results. Launched on same days different week aswell and got different results. Everything is speculation really whens best to launch. The variables arent that tangiable either i dont think. Massive scope for speculation like i said. Im not so sure there is a best time to post/launch.

If you mean putting a WSO up on the WF by "launching" I'm not sure the day of the week is that important. In the real world out there, and in the IM niche, Tuesday is by far the most preferred day as others have mentioned.

Every major guru-type always tries to launch on Tuesday. That is not always possible because the major JV forums get clogged up with Tuesday launches way in advance. The guys with the track record of massive sales are going to get priority for Tuesday launches over a newbie.

If you are trying to recruit biggies to promote for you, you also run into the problem of there always being plenty of Tuesday targeted big launches for them to promote. If you're new and unknown you are going to be trying to get big affiliates to promote for you on Tuesday when there are a lot of options for them to consider on that day. Therefore, an off-day might be easier to get them to promote. Friday's and weekends would be my last choice--stuff will fizzle by Monday morning.

It depends on who you are, what you've got, how much affiliates can make from promoting and the perceived conversion potential of your sales page. Sound confusing? It is. But good luck with it! --Mike

Thanks for the suggestions every one. They've been well received.

For the sake of clarity though, I'm not launching a WSO. It is an Internet Marketing related product though. I'm setting it up as a "perpetual" or "evergreen" or on-going launch, taking each visitor through a "live" product launch no matter when they happen to opt-in.

For starters, my product will go "live" every Tuesday. Obviously, I will test and tweak this, but I greatly appreciate all of the advice...especially from hotlinkz, WillR, and mikemcmillan.

I have seen the big guru launches and noticed there is no pattern to the day they launch. There was a successful IM launch a month back on Saturday morning so when people woke up to their emails they would see the launch.

It is probably one of those things that can depend on your market, and the best way to learn is to launch and see what happens

It appears that Tuesday and Wednesday are winners; as they land on the middle of the week. Many prospects are at work either trying to start or catch-up on the initials Mondays and rush out Friday’s projects. For many Saturdays and Sundays are either off days, get out the house or relax days. Keeping those merchandise in memories with the call to action appears to be better on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, add in Thursdays for repeat briefing.

Maybe monday is the good day to launch a product, it's the first day of the week. But honestly it doesn't matter what day, what matter's most is how good/valuable is your product. Even if people do not have much money(or not payday), they will buy your product if they really like it.

In the past I always used Monday’s for a prelaunch day, send out special invites etc for this day.
Then general public launch on the Tuesday.
But as others have said it will depend a lot on your product or service.
