Is it possible to create original content?

I am struggling to get a page published on HubPages. I have re written the page and added images and still I have a warning to say that it contains duplicate content.

I do not have full access to Copyscape so just to try it out I thought I would enter the website address for the Holiday Resort I am promoting. Copyscape found another website that I created originally for my own apartment and then I created another website which is copy of my original but with changes where applicable

Copyscape found two sites. The first is OK and that is my site and then the other site is completely different. For the landing page, Copyscape says that 5% of the content uses the same words. When I look at the words it has identified on the other site which is completely different, I note that it is showing the same link as my sites. I was recently approached by the Mesothelioma Orgainisation to advertise for them and get my apartment listed in an accommodation directory. Now that I have placed the text add (with image) on my website Copyscape has picked this up as duplication.

As this is the case, what hope is there for generating/creating original content?

For stuff like that, don't rewrite. Just like writing a university paper, do your research and then write without the information in front of you and you'll be less likely to just 'reword' phrases and stuff. I've never had any problems producing unique content.

You simply need to generate content that is completely unique and can't be found anywhere else on the Internet. If you like writing, spend some time researching your topic, creating an outline for your article and then fill in the blanks.

Alternatively, you could hand over the responsibility of writing these articles to an outsourcer and get them to write an 100% unique article based on the resources you give them.

99centarticles.com, guru.com, oDesk.com and the Warriors For Hire section on this forum are good places to start for outsourcing.

All the best and good luck with your projects.

It helps to write on topics you know a little about, or spend some time on research before you write.

After you have gotten your points, write without looking at anything.

    Introduction
    Point 1
    Point2
    Point3 etc
    Conclusion.

    I hope this helps you.

MrWhistler has it right. Either write on what you know or do some research and take notes and ideas. Copy and paste these notes at the top of your writing page and start writing in your own words. Follow Whistler's outline and you'll have a unique article.

Many times you simply cannot avoid using 3 or 4 word combinations that are going to show up on other articles and are commonly used in the same niche. But, as long as you're writing from your own thoughts, your article will be original.

Don't get hung up about it.

This is true. For those of you who remember Sammy Davis Jr., entertainer, who said of his live shows: 'You need a Great opening and
a Great close. The middle will sort of take care of itself'. Good advise,

Original content appears every day so is absolutely possible. As others have said, steer clear of rewriting if that's part of what you're doing in this case.
Find your subject and read up on it in at least three different places, with at least one offline source.
Then take your knowledge and note down the main point [draft title if you will] of your article/content within the overall subject. Then draft out the main one-line arguments/points you want to make and you're away to the races. Expand on each point and before you know it, you'll have a structured, unique and original article. Noting that unique and original are very definitely NOT the same thing.

Once you research your topic very well (like you used to at school or college)-it will be easy to write your own article. Re-writing an article is actually more frustrating than writing from knowledge you accumulated.

Hubpages just rewrote their TOS and have become a pain in the assets. After ranking high for a competitive keyword with one of my blogs on their site they slapped me hard for being over promotional and linking to prohibited sites.

I run a family style operation so I had no idea what they were talking about with the prohibited site thing. I think it's because it was an affilliate offer. The thing is, there were absolutely none of these restrictions in place when I started. They're all recent. And as of two weeks ago they hadn't updated their TOS.

There are plenty of other free blog sites that don't have such rigid guidelines. I'm in the process of moving. Maybe you should consider the same, especially if you don't have a lot of time invested in HubPages.

There was a big clampdown on sites that were viewed as content farms back in Feb. 2011 and this effected article directories, squidoo and hub pages and they've had to alter their rules to comply with the newish Google algorithms.

Lots of good articles, squidoo lenses and hub pages are being rejected or triggering spam filters, but it's there sites and they can do what they like, but very frustrating for people who have spent time on a topic and have been members for quite a while.

I have found if I start out writing with only a list of specific points - nothing else- I will be able to produce an article which is completely unique. But, if I have even a small amount of text from other sources in front of me I'll tend to depend on it and create too much of a copy.

Thanks for all your replies. I thought by writing an article on a location I know somthing about and adding different and extra content it would be accepted. If by definition 5% uses the same words this is making it very hard.
I thought Hubpages would accept my article as no one else had written about the same subject on HubPages. If they are looking at articles on other ezines or my website then it will make it more difficult to get accepted for original content and will limit the number of submissions to their site. In some ways this will be a good thing and I will not worry about it in this case.
