Multiple domains with one hosting account

Hi warriors.

I currently have 3 domains in my hosting account(Bluehost).

1 primary domain and 2 addon domains.

Each domain has a wordpress blog and a unique niche.

Can 3 domains in the same account with different niches effect SEO and my ranking in Google?

    Hello Marvon,

In my experience it has caused a problem in the past, but only if you are competing in the same niche, so that should be fine.

If it is shared hosting then it will not harm much because there will be already many more. Google already know this issue. Same niche site in same shared hosting may create problem.

    Yep, I second the motion...

I have half of my total sites within one account. And those sites that I really put effort in SEO ranking are having good placements in SE rankings, remember they are within the same account, server, but different domain name.

    Hope that would help.

      Thanks alot for the response

The reason why I'm asking is that I launched a new site 1½ week ago and it got big problem ranking on my keywords.

I used same SEO as my other sites and they rank first page on google.

But this site is on page 6 and I'm trying squidoo, hubpages etc trying to get better ranks but It doesn't seem to have any effect atm.

And with your info, the multiple domains on the same account should'nt be a problem. However one of my sites focus on weight loss and the other one on weight lifting. Can this cause a problem?

        Here's another one...

If I created a new site, I really don't expect to get any high ranking from SE within 6 months time. How about that?

And also, maybe you'll see some of your sites to show up in SE for first few weeks but it would be suddenly gone once the so-called sandbox kicked in. If your site appears in first few pages, just consider it a bonus.

Maybe I'm rushing things with my new site . My first site was such a success to hit first page on google within 2 weeks.

And I probally got lucky with that one, so I will just wait and see what happens.

As long as your sites are different niches, you are fine using them on the same hosting. It shouldn't affect your SEO standings.

I feel it is safe to have up to 25 sites on one hosting account and it really has nothing to do with SEO that I can tell.

The reason some people don't put more than 25 sites is usually because they may be auto blog type sites. Google is leaning more toward fresh content and so auto blogs at times can possibly get de-indexed.

You only have 3 sites and that is no problem whatsoever!

That wouldn't affect your SEO efforts. They have different domain name in different niches so that would be fine.

I have not seen any issues. I use HostGator and have about 12 domains on the same shared account. As a side note, I know some people have had issues with HG, but I have never had any problems - they have provided me with great customer service.
