What part of IM do you enjoy the most?

I've been fiddling a lot with sales funnels and optimizing conversion rates in the last week, and I noticed something... how EASY it is to work your a** off when you're doing something you truly enjoy.

Normally I build niche sites, and while they're usually successful, I also find the work quite tedious and not exactly challenging. The results make it well worth the effort though, and I'm earning a decent buck for the hours I put in. The part I enjoy the least about making sites is probably building links, and I'm sure many feel the same way. Sure, I could outsource, but I'm just too much of a control freak for that.

Anyway, like I said, my true passion in IM is testing and tracking, working to increase conversions. I also really like writing sales letters (I might not be an expert, but it's fun anyway).

So, what's YOUR true passion in IM (if you have one)? Is your passion also what you earn most of your income from? Is there something you absolutely hate doing?

    Wow... where to start...

First of all, it gives me power to control things in my life. I no longer work just because I need the money on a life sucking job.

Next, it makes me grow as a person. The IM niche is filled with wonderful people that love to see each other grow.

Best of all, passive income and FREEDOM.

OMG. I love it for all of these reasons as well. Plus it allows me to be CREATIVE and think differently from the average population. I can work in pretty much ANY "field" I want to, without having to worry about whether or not my degree matches up. I'm a philomath (lover of learning) at heart, and LOVE the fact that IM allows me to learn new things and touch more and more people every day.

Writing is enjoyable, too. Trying to find new ways to make boring subjects interesting or complex subjects easy to understand.

is there something i absolutely hate doing? i think i speak for everyone here when i say spending hours making a review site and then it turns out to make nothing.

but my passion is making sites and writing, and helping other people out. yes it is easy to work when you are enjoying it, i spend like 5 hours a day reading, learning, doing things to improve my sucess.

but my favorite part is seeing the money coming in.

It's the challenge in overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds in beating out the competition within the most hotly contested niches and coming out victorious seething in the adredaline rush in yet another campaign for capturing hearts and minds as demonstrably poured out one click at a time by enthralled mobs enchanted by mere words on a computer screen.

    Keyword research.

I have to force myself to stop doing it because I keep coming up with great ideas and start registering domain names. So I end up with a huge backlog of "projects to be done".

I'm with the OP on this one. I LOVE conversion optimization. Identifying traffic sources that yield a good return, then scaling them up. Adjusting on-page items to increase conversion rate. Crafting compelling sales copy... that stuff is all TONS of fun and it has a huge impact on your bottom line.

The most enjoyable part of my marketing campaign is fine-tuning for better conversion rates. Testing & Tracking is what I love because I get to know the psychology of so many different group of buyers from different countries.

Other than that, I enjoy Keyword Research part. The rest is enjoyable too, but not as good as the Testing & Tracking and KW research.

Freedom and flexibility. No boss, no fixed time for working, no schedule work and no age of retirement. So online marketing is the best place to show your intellectuality and my favorite marketing strategy is social media marketing and forum marketing. I really enjoy these two as it's almost like a chat room for me where i'm making friends and sharing my opinion to them however the opinions are business related.

It's funny, but I actually got into my current position based on the writing aspect, but over time, that has actually become the least enjoyable part of my job. I will say, I rarely wake up in the morning wishing I didn't have to "work." I love my job. I love learning every day. I enjoy setting sites up, adding early content, and then moving on to the next site. Unfortunately, I get easily get bored with a topic and the site just sits there. Also, since I discovered XHeader I'm having a blast changing out the headers on the older sites.

Backlinking and social bookmarking aren't all that bad if I do a little at a time, especially with the automated tools we have now.

Here I am sitting in my computer chair half-naked

...a *scorching* 80+ degrees outside drinking ice
cold water typing this message while my list is
being built on *auto-pilot* from marketing efforts
    both free and paid traffic.

...at the same time, I'm going to be setting up a
few 4-figure deals this afternoon that'll net me an
    extra $5k - $6k this month.

    and...

I don't have to answer to a *boss* and deal with
    *b.s. office politics*

I control EVERY aspect of my income and with the
    push of a few buttons, I can turn $100 into a $5k
a month business in less than 30-45 days.

And KNOWING that with the skill of marketing and
sales...it's impossible to ever be broke because...

it's a *universal* skill. It'll NEVER go out of style
no matter WHERE you live in this world.

The money is *awesome*, but what's even more
cool is knowing I'm making a DIRECT impact on
someone's life for the BETTER and...they're happy
    to pay me for it.

It's hard to put in words why I love IM and offline
business so much -- but this is a good start.

The creative process of IM is what drives me and is definitely what I like the most. I've got a hundred ideas for every one idea on how to make something work.

The down side is similar to what someone mentioned. As we've grown and expanded, it can be challenging to keep up with it all. I miss the days of being able to focus 100% on just one site.

Definitely networking. Meeting new people, developing new friendships and joint venture partnerships, helping one another out. It's great. "Your net worth is directly proportionate to your network."

I must say, though, that I love creating things as well. Websites, reports, content, most anything. It's still so cool to me that you can just do some research, throw a blog up, maybe build some links, get traffic, and get paid as a result. Like someone else mentioned, I love the creative aspects of marketing.
