Does the Amount of Products Per Page Effect Conversion Rates??

I was recently working on my website, and decided to switch from the single column scroll to a 4 x 4 grid format. I have thousands of products on my site and I'm currently trying to figure out how many products I should display per page. Some categories like executive desks, and conference tables have hundreds of products.They can't really be broken down further. Any advice on how to display?

    This does affect your sales quite significantly.

    I think most multiproduct sites will have 12 products per view. With the option to view the next page at the bottom.

    You need to categorise the products into groups. I assume you have already done this
