I think the list building/info product model is the best, and it's what I'm trying to switch to (to get away from service).

Create a giveaway product (videos, ebook, audiobook) and offer it from a squeeze page. Set up an autoresponder email series with more free info (and build up a story- make them want something that you can offer). Then make your offer- which is another product you created. Once they buy, give them some time to soak in the info, then partner up with others and sell them affiliate products, more of your products, or a coaching service.

Hmm scratch that, get them on your list and sell them something reoccurring. Like a membership site, monthly-fee based product or service, etc. Then drive traffic to it like crazy.

In my opinion, the "best" is what you're most passionate about. Your passion will drive you and make you work harder. We do e-commerce and have had a lot of success with it so we stick with it. But I also have a service-related company (Giftys.com) and I do local IM consulting too. Diversity is good as long as you don't bite off more than you can chew.

    Hope this helps!

Pick a small niche that you actually know a good deal about and have a good deal of interest in it.

    such as:
    Stamp collecting
    Baby sitting
    Bodybuilding
    and so on.

Look how to make a product which is a twist on an existing product. Something that will make people think WOW that is amazing, and will help you spread the word.

Go on forums telling people about your product and offering free samples to the Moderators and other people who are well respected.

    Pros
You can test this for little to no money before you spend any money
You are actually selling something people want(if you choose the right item)
    The potential profit is HUGE
You can automate it just like any online company.

    Cons
    It takes some upfront money
You need to ship items out or have company do it for you

Just a thought it might be good if people also post what sort of success they have had with their choice. Without this it is just a list of what people's opinions are and doesn't hold a whole lot of water for real world results.

List building and recurring billing are best in my humble opinion. It keeps the money coming in long after that first initial sale. It is a lot easier to sell to someone who has bought from you before rather than finding another customer.

My apologies Joe. I am not well versed in the online info lingo. My background is selling physical products online. I thought you meant a list of past customers and thought ok customers from what business lol

Again sorry for not understanding. Boy you know something about one sort of industry and come to realize it doesn't mean you know ANYTHING about a related industry
