Hey Kamal

Try something like TweetAdder. It's a paid service but worth it of you want to build up a decent list of followers relevant to your niche. Another service worth considering is MarketMeSuite. Both services do similar things when it comes to tweet management but they both offer different methods for finding relevant followers.

Can try twiends. It's a free service but your followers might not be targetted but I find it interesting as it also allow u to increase your followers for FB fan pages and youtube at the same time.

Twiends will give you a bunch of followers really quick but 90% of them will unfollow you as soon as they've earned their "points" for following you.

So essentially, you're getting a bunch of followers who really aren't following you for the right reasons. Not very useful IMHO.

Personally, I do what tgdrew said and follow people (not in my niche) but people with similar interests as me. Twitter isn't about niches, it's about connecting with like-minded people. If you only have followers in a niche, what good is it? It's like a used car salesman following another used car salesman. Competing interests, not a good follow. The whole trick is to "bring" people into one of your niches by finding common interests.

At The Morning my Twitter followers were 1277 .. And Now its 1330 ...

Edited : followers are now 1355 .. You know it works

I agree with this list. The more I tweet in my topic area (and I have several Twitter profiles), respond and retweet when appropriate, and build relationships with those who have similar interests, the more followers I get. Twitter has helped with their suggestion list on the sidebar as well.

I also use TweetDeck to keep up with the various topics throughout the day.

Great advise Jacob. Hashtags are very powerful.

Here is a list of 407 hashtag chats that have regularly scheduled days and times (it's a Google Doc spreadsheet, I just used bit.ly for a better looking url). Other hashtags are ongoing throughout the week. You just have to find ones that are in your niche.

You can find a lot of software out there for managing twitter accounts.

Some of them are TweetAdder and TweetAttacks.

Here is a technique that I use that works very well and very fast.

First, get a free account at Twellow (Twitter Search, Twitter Directory, Twitter Yellow Pages :: Twellow).

Create a profile with your interests (say your business: "Affiliate Marketing") and some interesting content with keywords... Add links to your web pages, etc.

Then you can perform a search for the type of interests the other members have (they have millions of members) - for example "Affiliate Marketing".

Now, follow them all - it may take you an hour or more because you will have thousands of possible contacts - you may want to follow a few hundred a day instead of building a sudden massive list at once.

Now, within a day or two you will get about a 50-75% refollow from those you followed, plus hundreds of new followers (based on how well your content in your profile and your links are).

Boom, you now have thousands of followers. Combine that with the other techniques here and I am sure you will have no problem. I got over 600 followers in a single day once using just this one technique.

Twitter is a really powerful tool for online social networking, The more people that you have following you there, the more likely it is that they will see what you’re doing and be interested in your work around the web.
you can use twitter's tool to find out and adding your existing contacts.
you can also announce in other social networking sites that you would link to be followed on twitter.
you can also use twitter widgets on your site...
there are many more ideas on to get followers n twitter.. you can google these questions nd you will get lot's of answers...

That's the best way to do it. The best way to automate building your following is probably Tweet Adder. It has some very good targeting features. MarketMeSuite is also very good, like Paul said.

I don't recommend Twiends at all, because your followers aren't going to be very targeted.

Follow people who are in the same niche as yourself. If they do not follow you back within a few days, unfollow them and follow others in your niche instead. It can be a tedious process, but if you aren't interested in using software to get you followers it is really your best bet.

  1) Go to the Tweet Attacks site and download the Free version
  2) Find a Twitter account in your niche that has a lot of followers.
  3) Set the software to follow that persons followers. Limit it to 330.
  4) Wait 3 days, set the software to unfollow. Make sure "Protect Mutual Followers" is checked.
  5) Repeat!
  
  May also consider signing up for a free Social Oomph account, you can program an auto welcome message to each new follower and set it to follow anyone who follows you.
  
  Maye also consider investing in Tweet Attacks Lite, so that when it follows people it avoids inactive users, people who tweet links and people with no picture. Or the Pro version, because it has the "wait and reply" module, which will go into twitter and find people who tweet a keyword related to your niche (which you specify) and it will send them an @ about your account.
  
  As far as Tweinds goes, I have used it and it has gotten me followers, but they were not at all targeted. So I don't recommend it.
  
  As far as Tweet Adder goes, I haven't used it so I cannot say. They have a free trial version you can use on their site as well.

You can have 100,000 Twitter followers and still have ZERO readers.

Is anyone out there old enough to remember "Free For All (FFA)" links back in the day? The idea was that anyone could post their link on these FFA pages, and because other people would go there and post their links too, occasionally you'd get a click or 2. But then someone came out with FFA Blaster software that would post your link to 1,000 FFA pages or whatever. And, since everyone was doing that, there were no longer any humans around to click any links.

Same thing with Twitter. Unless you actually do the very tedious work of being interesting/useful/entertaining/helpful/whatever, and getting a real audience, it's all a ruse!

Great analogy. If people treated Twitter like they treat a discussion forum like this, they'd get much better results than they get from treating it like an FFA page.

Use twiends, its free but if you want to do it manually then try to have a good and reputable profile then post ineteresting tweets and of course follow many people first then in return they might follow you back.

I really can't get over how many people are recommending Twiends. Don't you guys (the ones recommending Twiends) want targeted followers, or is it just about getting as many as possible and then throwing a bunch of **** against the wall and hoping some of it sticks?

Firstly, I have only had a Twitter account for about a month.

But I no some of the basics, which are:

Follow people who follow you - this is because some people notice you do not follow them back and unfollow you.
Use Twitterholic.
Follow online celebrities as the vast majority tend to follow you back
Remember quality, have a good profile picture and blurb
Provide valuable content, be interesting - so do not just provide twitter spam, like a big bunch of affiliate links, otherwise the only people following you will be the ones that never pay attention to your twitter feed.
Use the built in friend/follower search feature in twitter
Add "Retweet", "Please RT" - etc to the end of your twitter post, and find your some of your followers retweeting them, and providing you more exposure.
Put up "Follow me on Twitter" links on your blog, and even in this Warrior Forum so we can see next to your post

I am sure I have only touched on some ways to get twitter followers, goodluck being followed on twitter.

Initially I was adding people manually by searching for keywords related to my niche. That was good for maybe a 50% follow back rate, but it's also time consuming. socialoopmh is a good free service for then unfollowing those who don't follow you. As of today, I've just started using Twients. Will see how it goes, but looks promising, if somewhat untargeted.

Follow people related to your niche as far as possible, and tweet quality content, as well as try to build a relationship with them. You can get thousands of followers but if you do not have good content or even interact with them at all- it is of no use at all.

For a start you can start with free versions of TweetAdder or TweetAttacks. Once you scaled up your campaigns and made enough money then perhaps you can get the paid version. I am personally using the paid version of TweetAdder, which in my opinion is the best option, followed by TweetAttacks.

yes, you can try to use free tools but here are the most effective ways to build a solid following - those who really want to follow you, not just to get a follow back:

make you tweets valuable, interesting or catchy.
follow people who you think are worth ff. not just to get a follow back
include RT@ on your tweets instead of just using the Retweet button on Twitter.
don't forget to acknowledge someone who has mentioned you or ReTweeted.
build interesting lists and add deserving people on your list.

these are just a few tips and don't worry if you lose followers that you just gained the other day, most likely these people are just waiting for a follow back.

I suggest building up a targeted website in your niche. Once you start developing a good customer base. Then start making posts with twitter or connect your twitter to the posts. Def' a good way of getting followers.

i love tweetadder. It amazing after i disappointed with tweinds. Tweetadder able to help me find quality followers by using keyword and location to looking for them. Tweetadder allow you to autofollow, unfollow, follow back and autotweet.
I think beside of Tweetdeck, tweetadder maybe the second useful application for twitter.
