Blogging tips...

Hi there,

I'm compiling a blog post. It's going to be a list of blogging tips.

So has anybody got any you wouldn't mind me sharing on my blog?

Obviously I will credit you and link to your site, so leave a name and link by any tips.

    1. Keep it up to date with posts (... guilty of not doing this).
    2. Interact with other blog owers and comment on their posts.
    3. Social bookmark the posts of other blog owners that you like and also your own (ie. attract interest from the social bookmarking community).
    4. Build a list with your blog
    5. To build a list with your blog you often have to be aggressive (think pop-ups, opt-in boxes under posts etc) otherwise it's a slooooow process.
    6. Your blog is for reading... make the font, the layout and colours easy for reading (it's one of the reasons Thesis is so popular).
    7. If you're tight for time use your emails as blog posts.

      Here's one for you:

      Don't be afraid to be controversial...in blogging, a "hot button" topic addressed with a very strong opinion will bring traffic.

      Don't be afraid to be silly...in blogging, silly equals "Hey, look at what this idiot wrote!" in an email somewhere with a link that will be clicked.

      Remember a golden rule of blogging...it should have your "voice" on plain display. Don't talk at your readers...talk with them.

      Your blog isn't a lecture series at the university, it's a discussion in a bar, which many times lead to a heated discussion in a bar, which does what? Draws attention.

    My addition:
    1. Add the social bookmarking tool like Addthis to facilitate sharing in social networking sites.
    2. ORIGINAL and UNIQUE Content is critical.
    3. Picture speak a thousands words. So incorporate relevant picture/photo in every post.

    Here is mine:

    1. Write useful and interesting content
    2. Let your personality shine through
    3. Put Twitter and Facebook buttons on blog posts so others can share your content

      Speak in a conversational tone!

      I find it best to actually imagine you have somone sitting alongside you and you are talking to them. Telling them whatever it is your writing

      It makes it more interesting for the reader

      Also ask questions every now and again. Everyone likes questions, right?? Once again engaging your reader

    1. Content is king in blogging
    2. Do your keyword research
    3. Offer value over quantity of posts. I only write well thought out blog posts if I do not have an idea for a post I do not post it.
    4. Metatags are still important for seo
    5. Only link to high traffic sites with a good pagerank. ( No spam sites )
    6. Put the keywords you are targeting in your blogs title tags, and description for good seo

    To be professional and to keep your blog strong in ranking factor, you have to keep in view these few steps that i learned from my personal experience.

    1: Focus on quality of content that is going to be written.
    2: Write more relevant content by current problems, situations and their solutions.
    3: Share your knowledge in a concise way, not a boring material should be added.
    4: Be relevant to the topic of content, otherwise it may create a choppy effect for readers and also ignorable by Google ranking factors.
    5: Create good relationships with top ranking websites by offering them opportunities for their promotions, as well as yours.

    3. Stop researching, start writing, do it! - Think of


    4. Sorry about the 3 redundant points, just emphasizing the best way to achieve blogging success is to stop spending 5 hours researching and 1 hour writing, flip that around.

    5. Be unique, be interesting, talk like a mate would to another mate - aka use your writing to build rapport, don't try and hard sell anyone.
