number of words of review in a review site ?

How many words should be there in a review site ?
I have seen some review sites which got 250 words review and some has a fuul article of more than 350-400 words.
In my opinion making it concise is better than just spamming keywords and boring the visitor.
What are your thoughts on it ?

I'd suggest not to worry about the word count and just worry about making a quality review, whether that be 150 words or 1000.

The point I think people miss when they make review sites is that they are supposed to help the customer. If you provide that value, you will receive the value you are looking for in return.

I would not focus on word length, I would write for the end-user. Pretend your the one looking for x product, answer all the information you would like to know to make an informed purchasing decision, no fluff.

I also recommend making it an honest review, make the web a better place. If you can put your hand on your heart and say x product is great, then you will sleep better at night, and make more sales.

So ignore word length, just write until you have answered all the questions in your prospects mind.

      Goodluck,

I generally write a short keyword optimized product description, then a longer segment appealing to their emotions. I ask them to imagine how it would feel, look, smell, taste, etc.

Initial 2 review Articles are 850 words min then additional posts of less pointing out specific features.

Its easy to write and 850 word review and keep it interesting and helpful to the reader.

The key is to provide value and ensure it provides valuable information guiding them toward the purchase.

We bought a set of cookware last year from a review site. The review itself was about 800 words and went into enough detail that it seemed like the reviewer really understood what they were talking about.

It was not just one of those copy and paste things. It worked really well and we are very pleased with the choice we made. The reviewer put together such a good site that there was no problem buying through his link at all.

As a matter of fact, we really appreciated the information and have found it to be highly accurate as far as the cookware goes.

Yeah, I agree with not focusing on the word count, but anything below 400 isn't going to be a very useful review. It's just not possible to write an in-depth review in so few words. I'd say 600 is an absolute minimum, unless you just want to write about the most obvious features and send the user to your affiliate link (which can work too sometimes). In the long run you'll be way better off to put some thought and effort into your reviews though...

Well it depends... If you're trying to get Google rankings then you'll want to go with a 1,000-word review over a 500-word review. Give Google more to crawl. This affects search results more than people realize.

Quite a varity of answers as to word count! I've always heard at least 400 words, but I certainly agree that you need to use as many words as you need to write a thorough review that will draw those looking to buy.

If you just slap out 250 words that just barely touch on the key points of the product, you probably won't do as well as when you take the time to point out the positive and negative aspects. That's what will draw buyers - if that is your point in writing the review in the first place.

A way to dramatically increase conversions is to have an opt-in form on your review site for a pdf "guidebook" of just a few pages. Include ordering information with your links inside. By building a list this way, I am getting conversions of over 60% on high end products. Additional information can usually be found from the manufacturers' website.

Great suggestions here. I agree that you should write until it's boring. I often break up my test with bullets. Something I picked up here in the forum :-)

For SEO purposes, Google seems to prefer longer content. I'm not sure -how- long, but anything over, say, 600 words should be plenty. That said, I do notice most of my 2000+ word articles rank better than my 600-1500 word articles, so the correlation might drop off later than a lot of people think.

To be honest, 400 word review article cannot possibly be good (very rarely maybe it will). You want your review to be able to provide content that is not just some broad general comment that countless other people are making but very specific and detailed. With that said, I haven't been successful in writing a product review that is less than 800 words. SEO, keyword, attention grabbers are all helpful but in the end, someone who is looking for a review is going to care about whether your article was helpful in making their decision.
