Is it possible to earn full time income through Amazon Affiliate Program?

I am an amazon associate. I was wondering if it is possible to earn full time income through amazon associates program? How much time it will take? For me, full time income would be 10k usd or more. So would it be possible?

Yes you can. Pick a niche where you are promoting high ticket items. Then make sure you are getting your customers to sign up for your list by offering your subscribers great value.

Of course it's possible! It's impossible to say how long time it will take you though, as it's different for everyone. IMO you should be prepared for months of hard work before seeing decent results.. Getting to 10k/month I would say will take at least a year to accomplish, on average. Possibly faster if you really know what you're doing.

A tip I read somewhere. As much as you want to promote high ticket items so you maximize your commission you also need to have some sites with low ticket items to sell more products overall. This will increase your amazon earnings as you will jump to a higher percentage for more products shipped.

      Anyone agree with this strategy?

Initially perhaps yes. But I have also found that Amazon has a remarkable conversion system that offers "suggestions" for related products. I have been promoting exclusively the $10,000+ high ticket items and let Amazon handle the lower-priced accessories, supplies, and related products. With Amazon's conversions, the quantity requirement for maximizing tiered commissions will take care of itself with enough targeted traffic.

I have often considered this in my amazon sites but whenever I look at the extremely high priced items to sell on amazon (over $2-3K) i never see any reviews or user ratings so i start to wonder how hard of a sell that would be. any input?

These products are sold via email promotions to my niche lists, as well as online/offline article marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, and classified advertising in newspapers and magazines. None of my sites rank.

Just goes to show that there's a LOT more to marketing than just Google.

Google's only a few years old, but people have been marketing for thousands of years!

I was asked a similar question not to long ago and my answer was yes, but I wasn't having any luck. I've changed a few things and what a difference it has made.

                ~ Products $300+
                ~ In demand items
                ~ Low competitive keywords
                ~ Recent positive feedback
                ~ Four stars+
~ Keywords in domain name, description, title tags, picture and main body

What a difference this has made and only started implementing this new approach at the start of June and have had 15 amazon sales with commissions of $71 and a conversion rate of just over 8%.

My aim is always to reach page one on Google and I only ever select a product which has the minimum sales value, has the required feedback and has low competition or limited data.

I dont know if the OP was talking about $10K/month or simply $10K/year
it is interesting that you say $10K/month would be possible in around a years time, though. Do you make around $10K/month from amazon? how many sites would you think that would take? ballpark?

May I ask why you want to leave a job with a present income of 10k a month?

Amazon makes up a small portion of my income but I earn more from it, quite a bit more from it, than I did the last time I had a J.O.B

I don't doubt for a minute you can't earn that money but it very much depends on what you do, how well you do it and how hard you're prepared to work.

If I was earning 10k a month in a job, I certainly wouldn't leave it until I was consistently earning more than that from my online activities.

Very much so. I sell a number a inexpensive popular items to increase my commission but I now only focus on high ticket products.

It can be done... there was a fantastic WSO about setting up an Amazon site by Lisa Gergets (I think). Worth checking out if you're serious about Amazon.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[3996571].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author Michael Franklin
Before you even explore the WSO's on Amazon, start out by searching the 5 star Amazon threads on this forum. Just do a search using the terms "Amazon" or "Amazon Associates". There's more than enough content to help get you going with developing your Amazon income stream. Many posters within those threads have been generous enough to share their gameplan with you so there's no need to reinvent the wheel.

Then if you want to take it a step further, look at the posters that have shared their nuggets of information and then search by their username so you can find other great tidbits of information by them about Amazon in other WF threads.

I just started promoting Amazon products. I have no idea what the best products are to promote. If I should promote big ticket items or cheap products just to get them to click to Amazon. I decided to test market both. I am promoting big ticket items and inexpensive items. I'm starting to see a few sales in both areas but nothing dramatic yet.

Good strategy - big ticket items will earn more commission per sale, whilst selling larger quantities of less expensive items will increase your commission rate.

Also, it's surprising how many times people click on a link looking for a low cost item, but go on to buy several products and/or more expensive ones.

I pay my utility bills with the Amazon income.
I do it for fun, much like playing a video game, for achievements and scores. I make my main income from other sources but Amazon is fun to play with.

Do your keyword research right, search for low competition niches (such as certain craft machines, big ticket items in small niches) and you can make money with a site you stand up with 3-4 hours of work, no backlinks, no article marketing or anything like that.

Make a bunch of sites like this and you won't need a day job.
Find the 'passion and hobby' stuff people pay big bucks for, rank the site by going for low hanging fruit sort of keywords (long tail, keywords with no matched .com domain, keywords bringing hub pages and articles in top 10 google results).

I know people who make 4000-5000/mo just from Amazon sites.
I don't make that much but I pay some bills with it, so it's certainly possible to make money.

With consistent work and great content you can pretty much make money (full time living) from most methods online.

The thing is, it will take time and alot of hard effort. Do not believe the hype and bull that you can have a full time income from 20 mins a day... or something like that!

You need time, effort, knowledge and mostly persistance and you will prevail

It certainly is tough. Focus on the higher priced items as the lower priced items do not earn anything for the effort you put in to sell them.

  • I know people who do make a very decent income as an Amazon Associate. How long it will take depends on how much time and effort you put into it. Doing good keyword research and paying attention to trends and what is popular is important. Also you want to make sure you are promoting products that are relevant to the time of the year. But I definitely think you can do it!!

    Hi,
Yes, you can earn a large amount by it. But time is the major constraint in it. If you can give full time than it my be favorable for you. You have to select a niche market for it and than start working. It will be good for you.

That goal has been achieved by only a few which made it possible but not easy. IMO the main factor that can determine whether you reach it or not, or if it will take you a year or two is dedication. The preceding replies are very interesting and from them alone you can have a better picture on what to do next. Try to extend your quest for knowledge and experience. Be persistent and in no time, that goal will be a thing of the past. I am also in the process of building up my sites and venturing numerous online opportunities like the Amazon Affiliate Program. But I do believe that we definitely would have something to reap if we just do our best.

Before you go building up your Amazon business make sure you do not live in a stupid state. I just found out that as of July 15th that Amazon is dropping all affiliates in my state because they passed a law saying that having affiliates is having a presence and the Amazon would have to start charging sales tax here.

Now I know a lot of the states are hard up for money and I can see why the first (or maybe second) state would try this but when six states have tried this and had all their affiliates dropped you would think somebody would think that maybe this does not work and will actually cost the state revenue. I will be making some phone calls on Monday though I doubt it will do any good.

Amazon is only a supplement for me but I know a few people that make most of their money as affiliates that are going to be hurting. My guess is at least a couple of them actually move out of the state all together.

Lesson here is never put all your eggs in one basket

I am very curious about this since i was laid off recently and currently I am in the middle of building 40 seperate amazon review sites in differernt niches. I hope to have them all finished and launch all of them at the same time by the end of july and use SENuke X to rank them.

I am curious how long it may take me to start seeing a decent income. I am hoping with that many sites, that within 90 days I should see at least $1K/month or more. hopefully I am not being too optamistic but I am putting about 10-12 hours a day into these sites and I have to admit, they are starting to look very nice and professional. I have bought Dan Brocks Deadbeat super affiliate and have been following it very closely as well as throwing in a few more tricks i think may give me a slight advantage.

When doing research for my niches, i will often run across other amazon review sites but most look very cheap and simple and just thrown together. I think mine may instill a little bit more confidence in readers
