Your #1 Internet Marketing Survival Tip Please

To many people Internet Marketing is not just a matter of getting rich, wealthy or sipping flowered drinks on a sandy beach. It's a matter of survival, especially in this economic downturn.

What's your # 1 Internet Marketing survival tip?

Personally speaking, looking back one of mine is to keep learning from the best and don't be afraid of criticism.

What say you?

Focus on one project at a time, once that project is making you steady income, move on to the next, that is why I love niche marketing!

Many people just jump from one opportunity to another and never make it because they give up to fast or they did not see money fast! That is why 97% fail trying to make money online.

    That is my opinion!

    Have a great day

This. Though I take the approach of making sure I've done everything to maximize what that project is making before moving on to start the next one.

Also, a "new project" might just be another category of products within an existing site.

    My advice is this:

Stay focused to what you are committed to do.Provide quality service for your clients, write nice articles, design great logos, design nice websites etc People will always come back to you for more, if you are doing a good work.

This should be enough to survive in the -Internet Marketing-world.I can assure you that some scammers make money too.But this won't last.Your goal should be to build an Internet business that will last for years and always provide the best results to your customers.

Wish you the best of luck

        -Learn from the best,
-Have the ability to judge who is the best and who is BSing. and that comes from experience.
-Don't be afraid of taking chances thinking that you will fail, there is nothing wrong with failing and the people who will judge and criticize you are obviously a little different from you and are happy with their paycheck cause they are too scared to leave their job.

thats all i have for now

That's absolutely one of the best pieces of advice. If you put all your eggs in one basket, what happens if your supplier goes out of business? What happens if the market sector your in goes way down, like real estate did in 2008? There are many variables that you can't control, no matter how hard you work and how smart your strategies are. So don't make yourself ultra vulnerable by having only one source of income.

    Don't give up.

You will not be a millionaire by next Tuesday. You will not get rich by doing little or no work. If it was that easy, everyone would do it. If you truly want to be successful, you're going to have to work hard and work smart at something you're truly interested in.

1- know where your talents lie
    and
    2 - don't waste time re-inventing the wheel
always farm out the simple or time wasting tasks and concentrate on the key/important factors that will decide whether or not you make money.

Stop thinking in terms of survival. And start thinking in terms of wealth.

Building a business that focuses on the short term avoidance of pain, the kind of thinking that comes to my mind when I think about survival, is detrimental to building a long term sustainable business.

Tha may not have been OP's original thought but it popped into my mind immediately when I read the thread title.

      • Try to make that one thing something you are at least mildly interested in or enthusiastic about
      • Have a schedule
      • Stick to that schedule religiously
      • Most importantly, treat customers like human beings, not walking wallets. In a sea of people who are only concerned with making an extra dollar, the people who are willing to truly serve the best interests of their customers are the ones who stand out from the crowd

More than just my #1, but I've found all these things to be important.

Be ready to abandon your luggage.

Especially if your meal ticket relies on a loophole or specialized tactic which can be nullified by some third party.

        > When Google started nuking MFA sites generated by software, the smart folks moved on.

        > When doorway pages quit working, the smart folks figured out a different way to draw traffic.

        > When people have their Adsense accounts nuked, for whatever reason, they move on to find another means of monetization.

Bottom line, when something that has been working for you stops working, you need to be able to move on without looking back. Even if that means dumping some piece of software you paid big bucks for. If it won't earn its keep, it's dead weight you don't need.

    I will give you 2...

    1) No matter what people say, if this is your passion go for it. You will get there in the end, just never give up.

    2) Traffic is the lifeblood of teh internet. Without traffic you die in this game. So make sure you know how and where to get it. The more targeted your traffic is, the more chance you have of making some nice money.

Just remember these things and you will be fine.

    Nice post there.

My best tip? Would definitely have to be focus. (just like literally everyone else here, lol)

The ability to focus on doing one thing at a time and making it work instead of trying to do a gazillion things and not getting a single one done.

I don't have just one survival tip but if I was going to give my advise it would be:

    1) Focus - Once you know which area of IM you want to explore first, then stay focused on it. Very few people make money their first time round compared to those who try and fail serveral times before succeding. Bouncing from one area to the next will leave you broke.

    2) Stay Positive - this is still part and parcel of the first tip, but never give up hope. Anyone can make money from IM, it's just some people figure it out faster than others and it's not because your slow or stupid, some people just wander around for a little while before finding the path to success.

    3) Don't be lazy - IM is hard work when first starting out, but once you know how to make your first sale it becomes easier.

    4) Outsource - Once you know the steps to making money which works best for you, begin to out source it. You'll make money faster and easier by having someone else do alot of the menial tasks.

    5) Streamline and Diversify - You'll find after awhile that there are certain steps which can be streamlined to achieve your goals faster which then leaves you with time to diversify your income stream and look at other areas of IM. The best part about this is that you can take what you used from one area and apply 90% of it to another and yeild positive results.

I would like to add my 2 cents. Focus, but not what people are saying. Focus on your objectives. When you know your objectives, then you can figure out your strategy and choose your tactics. The reason most "internet marketers" keep on going for the next shiny object is because they don't even know their objectives.

That's one of the biggest traps newbies fall into. And I have done it myself. There are so many gurus out there, new product launches, and compelling emails you receive about new opportunities. But sooner or later you have to make a decision, commit to a certain course of action, and follow through.

I have to disagree with the notion of focus on a single thing until you succeed.
What if you are working with bad advice or boarding a 'sinking ship' business niche?

Diversification of income and traffic streams, both online and offline is absolutely necessary in today's economic and political environment. I have been self employed for over 20 years and have made the mistake of riding the boat to the bottom more than once.

Be willing to let go, regardless of how much you have invested if it is not improving your life after a reasonable test of time and effort.

The most important thing is to never stop learning new things and take consistent daily action to improve your circumstances. It also helps to have a like minded partner or two working toward the same goals. A good mastermind team is priceless.

Also, the advice to outsource or delegate the things you are not good at or do not like to do is pure wisdom. Help is cheap on sites like this forum and others. Take advantage of every opportunity to get help or automate with software.
