Who all makes money from Squidoo?

I've just joined up to squidoo today, if you can churn out quality articles it looks like it could be a great way to get traffic.

Or am I just disillusioned?

Squidoo is a great place to get quality traffic for your niche. As far as making money on your actual Squidoo lens ...I personally think your time could be better spent. But...there are some people who really pull in some hard cash with Squidoo. Give it a shot. You never know until you try

These days Squidoo is cracking down on writing about affiliate programs, so you can't do those anymore. I've made money from the ad revenue from Squidoo, maybe $6 or $7 dollars.

So I wouldn't recommend writing about the make money online topic. That's been changed per Squidoo's April 2011 TOS.

Squidoo is a great way to get your content ranked high in the SERPs very quickly. Google knows, likes and trusts them so they not only get indexed fast but they can handle A TON of backlinks all at once.

If ya already got some content up, maybe check out Fivver.com and pay someone to do a blast on UAW for you. Would be a great way to get a lot of backlinks very quickly and it will only cost ya $5 duckets! WHOOO!

I was under the impression that Squidoo took a bit of a hit during the Google Panda update, but I am not sure. Squidoo has an article on its own blog (How Google's Panda Update Impacted Squidoo and Hubpages Traffic: Site Navigation FAIL) about how the update affected both Squidoo and HubPages. You might want to check it out.

I do know quite a few people who use Squidoo. Some promote the lenses they create as stand-alone pages; some uses their lenses to promote other sites; and others use them as a combination of both.

I guess it depends on how you want to use the system.

Well, I use Squidoo mainly to get backlinks or create a link magnet (it is a very powerful SEO strategy).

If you want to get traffic from SE using Squidoo, then I would suggest you to move to ezinearticles.com or start your own blog. You will achieve better results that way.

Also, remember that it is hard to get fast results from SEO, so be patient!

I use Squidoo for two things: links and easy cash. What I usually do is make "lenses" for the same keywords I'm targeting on my own site, then link those lenses to my site and build links to the Squidoo lens (which has my own affiliate links on it).

That accomplishes two things: More link juice to my site makes it rank better. It also makes the Squidoo lens rank for the same keyword, allowing me to rank in more than one place on page 1. I find that a Squidoo lens can usually rank decently in less than a week with some BuildMyRank links pointing to it.

Squidoo can also be great for testing out new niches before you make a site on your own. Making a "lens" and getting some backlinks to it doesn't have to take more than 30 minutes. Then just monitor the rankings and earnings. I've discovered some great niches this way that I was hesitant to create a site about before testing them.

The key is not putting too much time and effort into it. As for Squidoo not allowing affiliate programs, I haven't heard anything about that. Though I only promote Amazon products, so maybe it's Clickbank style offers they have a problem with.
