General question about affiliate marketing

I am considering exploring affiliate marketing as a means of generating extra income and see how far I can take it.

I wanted to get your opinions on affiliate marketing and it's viability. Is it realistic to be able to generate an income from this or is it nearly an insurmountable task where only the best can succeed?

Can anyone recommend instructional products?

    Hi Matt..

First off, my answe to your initial question is a resounding YES.. affiliate marketing is not an elite business..anyone can jump in..make a business plan and then apply it whilst having fun.... for sure.

Am I saying it is easy?...NOPE.. but it is very possible..

The WarriorForum can provide you with everything you need, but if you need more step by step instructions... you would do well to looking at some of the free newsletter's knocking around, some are smokin' hot..

I provide a free newsletter on my blog for those just getting started..look below.

    But also...

Look for others that are freely available...

    Peace

Jay - are you full time?

What are the challenges people face who do affiliate marketing as well as doing a full time job?

        Matt

One of the great things about affiliate marketing is that you can be earning money WHILE you are at your full time job.

I have numerous emails from my subscribers saying how great it is to come home from work, check their emails and find that they've made money on autopilot whilst they've been at work.

But as one poster said, don't think it's done without some effort because you get out what you put in. It can be easy, but easy doesn't mean you won't have to do some work.

          ^^

          Roy's right....

Time management is something you need to take into consideration when looking into affiliate marketing.

Working on income producing activities when you need to/able to will really help. Many people think they are doing alot, when really they aren't actually participating in income producing activity which is the most important thing...

Structure your available time and have a definitive plan of action to get what you need done..

    Hi Matt,

Success in affiliate marketing will depent initially on one key activity - building a focused list.

Look into information on building a list in the niche you are interested in and which you have found products.

    Regards,

    Carl

To add on what Carl has shared, treat it like your product and your own customers.

Don't just make one sale from the customer, capture their emails and make many back-end sales later.

Of course, since you are treating them as your own customers, provide great value for them such as:
      1. email courses
      2. PLR articles
      3. advice and suggestions
      4. discounts and offer for your own products
      5. rebate for affiliate products

With your own list, you can now sell BOTH affiliate products PLUS your own products.

        Great advice John,

Another key I would suggest is to find on product you really believe in, set up on website or blog to promote it.

Then put all of your resources (time, money, skills etc. ) into getting your first customers, try to avoid doing too many things at the same time because I know from my own experience how you will loose time and nothing will seem to work.

If you have specific questions it would be good to see you post them here.

        Cheers!

          Thanks Carl.

Carl gave me a good idea.

Set up a Private blog which gives good value to your customers in that particular product.

Your list is going to go back to your blog for more on "How to use" the products they bought.

Yes, focus on just ONE. Give rebate may work. Let's say 10 dollars.

Some Internet Marketers give $10 worth of ebook and articles (instead of money) so the product is always downloadable and you never run out of stock.

          Cheers,
          John

Affiliate marketing is where EVERYONE that wants to make money online should start out!

Even if you have your own product to promote you need to test the market first right?

The best way to do this would be to try selling the top products already available in that market.
