Yep, happened to me a few weeks ago. Said my stuff was overly promotional and I had links pointing to prohibited sites. Nothing about that in their TOS but they haven't published their new TOS yet. I wan't happy either as two of my babies were page one.

That lost a bunch of traffic from Googles update and now they are trying to recover from it by deleting what they think are bad articles.

Same here...virtually all of my Hubs have been rendered unacceptable, it is a complete joke, I am just ignoring them now. Tis a shame, I had some ranking page 1 for a couple of keywords. One hub was getting 100 visits a week. It was informational and useful, multi-media, but then had a link off to Weight Loss For Idiots...perfectly legit and reasonable. But seems anything linking to Clickbank is now a violation !!!! I had a great review of MicroNichFinder, was getting a bit of traffic and of course had a link to MNF (CB)...not acceptable!! Where do they think I can send the reader for more information??????

Anyway, I am now over Hubpages, which is a real shame because it has served me well for a few years. And I served them well by writing info on things people were searching for. I wonder how the guys over at The Keyword Academy are coping with it. Hubs were a big backlink/traffic element in their system. Remember "100 hubs in 30 days"??

I don't think this problem is all too new, actually. I swore off Hubpages about a year and a half ago. They pretty much hate marketers, I believe.

Chances are, it isn't just hubpages which are taking this "stance" against affiliate links in your content (such as your hubpages) which is being hosted on their site: Other sites are getting real touchy about how you drive traffic to your affiliate products and offers on affiliate sites now even more than ever, and they are starting to treat this as a violation of their terms of service and so on more and more. The way to go with all this kind of stuff now is to host your OWN site on your OWN DOMAIN and then to send their (your) traffic to that FIRST, and then from there to all of your respective affiliate links and offers, but not straight from THEIR site!
It's quite likely that the same sort of thing will start happening on Squidoo with people's Lenses that are doing a similar sort of thing, and all their work will have been wasted and lost and gone forever!

Chances are that using your own site is almost certainly the safest way to go with anything like this any more!

Not so long back I remember a scenario where a number of Amazon Associates were using this really cheap ppc platform (which was also a URL shortening service) called adf.ly to send traffic from the US and from the UK to their amazon affiliate products on Amazon's US and UK sites from textlinks placed on adf.ly's site, and Amazon suddenly sent emails out to all of those (up until then) very happy people who had been using adf.ly, (and had drummed up several hundred dollars worth of amazon associates commissions), and these emails said something to the effect that these people had been deemed to have violated Amazon's TOS and informed them all that all of their commissions were therefore being forfeited and they were not going to be paid, for violating Amazon's Terms of Service. So, how much of a "bummer" is that?

EzineArticles, Hub Pages, eHow, and on and on and on.

There are all in a mad rush to "elevate" the quality of their pages for fear of being slapped by Google for low quality content.

Given these companies are virtually solely dependent, or highly dependent, upon Google for traffic and Adsense revenue - it is a rational concern.

One problem is most people do not want to put their "best" content on a third party site because, just like this, it can disappear in a whim. Eliminating a lot of time and effort.

A lot of us learned that lesson years ago from Blogger and are not about to repeat it.

There is no reason why anyone cannot register their own domain:

          yournamehub.com

and place all sorts of random articles on it, of whatever quality, with Adsense and Amazon links. Then work on building the site value.

          .

I never got much out of it anyway. I prefer putting any content I develop on my own sites.

Yea, I just haven't had any luck putting significant amounts of content on other people's sites. I prefer people come to my site to read about what I do, and that also puts me in the driver's seat.

Yeah happened to some of my hubs as well, totally sucks. Not being allowed to even have just one affiliate link in a hub removes any motivation to spend time writing articles for that site.

Same here, every single one of my Hubs were deleted from their network for having affiliate links.

You can probably get around this by creating links to your own webpages that link to an affiliate link.

I guess as a business they have to clean house or fall into the depths of search engine oblivion forever. There is no point having a site that works against google seeing that google for years gave such sites high rankings and traffic that helped them grow in the first place.

Any website that has been hit by google would do the same.

Its best to keep the best content for yourself on your site.

yeah I've been getting hated on pretty bad, but I used to write hubs about 6 months ago..I could really care less about hubpages. More people would rather watch video than read. That's my opinion anyways!

I quit Hubpages about a month ago. Everytime I wrote something , they told me that there was an issue with it. I wasted more time writing and getting nowhere with them.
    They do suck!!!!

I made a huge mistake of outsourcing my hubpages about a month ago.

Someone did not know what they were doing. And the affiliate links I gave were wrong, or someone ended up hacking this. I got banned last week. NOT GOOD.

Guess there was a valuable lesson in this for me.

Not following the terms and condition I guess, maybe you have too much link in your hub and it will come out as overly promotional.
