So I can get a public domain book put it in pdf form and sell it? Whats the rules on this?

    Ok i read the post and a popular book like A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens can i just copy it word for word and sell it thats pretty amazing

    If it's the original version - yes you can.

    If a public domain book has been edited, modified, or added to by someone else then that part is copyrighted.

    Just make sure you have the original version and you can sell it - and of course make sure that it really is in the public domain.

    Yes, in the US everything before 1923 is in the public domain.

    Here's a great chart that shows a lot of info about public domain dates and conditions for printed material and sound recordings too.
