Google Social Network?

We've all heard of google trying to take over the social networking game and we saw them speak about 'Google+' but haven't really seen any progress until now. Recently the +1 button has emerged. The 'Like' button killer.

Is this a sign that Google+ is close than we think???

Google already owns the largest social network in the world. YouTube.

Maybe someday Google will get the social thing right.

I don't think the +1 button will be a Like button killer, if only because the Like button is already so ingrained in our culture that it would take a total blunder by Facebook to muck it up, not a rival button coming along and displacing it.

Plus, just saying "like it" sounds a lot better than "plus one it".

Everytime I "like" some replies here in the forum, I am somehow searching for the like button.lol

Aside from thinking of ways on how to overpower Facebook, I think Google have to try a bit harder in negotiating a partnership with Facebook, too.

Exactly. Google's former CEO Eric Schmidt admitted recently that they messed up in the social space (which we already knew). They tried reaching out to Facebook a few times, but for one reason or another... cough... Microsoft.. it didn't come to fruition.

Right now, it looks like the only way to "beat" Facebook is to join them.

They've been trying so hard to get into the social market with failure after failure...

+1 is in no way going to be a like button killer unless it can tap into the news feeds of 600 + million people

My good friend was running a web design business and registered the domain www.googleme.com.au

I think he got some letter in the mail from a solicitor. A DMCA from Google themselves apparently.

Funny really, that not long after Google comes out with "Google Me"

He just thought it was catchy

I think Google Me will be another one of their failures. I do not see Google being anything more than delivering ads and a search engine. They aren't a social network and aren't going to be one.

Yeah, they tried Buzz, that did not work at all, Wave was a fail, I wonder if there is room for another network?
